How about flagging posts when anyone reports them as spam:

That way people know it's already been reported.

Isn't it a weighted thing, the more people that report it, the more likely it is to be removed?

Hmmm, not sure. If that's the case, how about a little graph so more people can pile on until it goes away. :)

There should also be a graph next to her link, with the names of people who clicked on it.

How about this?

If a post was marked as spam, then the post should be hidden from the forum and an email sent to the original poster stating that the post was marked as spam.
If they feel that was a mistake, then by all means send a message to a SC and they can unspam and unhide the message..

From the original announcement thread about Report Spam feature:
Originally posted by langdon:

Despite our best efforts, spam has become a regular occurrence here in the forums of DPC. We are trying a few different things to stifle future spam posts and have implemented a number of features to prevent it. However, there is unfortunately nothing that's going to completely stop real people from signing up, confirming their email address, and posting some garbage that none of us want to see.

I just wanted to make a quick announcement to explain a new feature that will let you guys help us fight the good fight and participate in the war against spam. On the bottom left of each post, you will see a link to "Report this post as spam". This will serve as a quicker method of purging spam from our forums.

I wanted to make this specific announcement to also ask that you please use this feature diligently. Since posts/threads will automatically be hidden at a certain threshold, this puts the power to hide content in the hands of our users. The use of this feature will be monitored, so please use it only as necessary.

Thanks,
Langdon

Boy, if THAT feature was put in place, imagine the chaos & angst as folks who feel attacked or dissed by a particular post just flag it as spam and disappear it for a while, LOL.

It will shorten the membership list too, as we suspend people for making us have to go unhide 200 posts every day ... :-(
