Being cuban (only 12 years in US) whenever I see pictures taken there a lot of memories come to my mind... It's indeed a beautiful country, beautiful nature and very friendly, happy and beautiful people...

Planning to go back for two weeks next year, to Santiago de Cuba (eastern part of the island)... Planning to bring back with me thousands of photos, for sure... :)

It really grates on me that our wonderful (heavy sarcasm) US Govt. sees fit to continue to prevent travel to Cuba, and to embargo Cuban-made products. I would love to go. I immediately recognized the first of the linked photos as being in Cuba.

Still going on... It's an obsolete thing but it's all about politics...

Then maybe it was the travel restrictions. I have seen alot recently about..."come see cuba". I dunno I will have to do some research on that. I would love to go though.

We should maintain the embargo so as not to ruin their 1950's ambiance. ;-)

I remember when an ice cream vendor tried to smuggle some of these into Cuba...

...it's what set off the infamous "Cuban Missile-Pop Crisis"

Congrats on the awesome images!

Legal travel to Cuba for US citizens...

In 1999, President Clinton implemented People to People, an initiative that allows Americans to travel to Cuba, as long as they take part in cultural experiences, putting them in direct contact with the locals in the hope of learning more about the people and customs of the country. The people-to-people travel experience is both rewarding and unique. We highly recommend that each participant engage with the people they meet. You will find that Cubans are often well-informed about current events and are open to discussing the positives and negatives of their country, provided you are willing to do the same about yours.

I thought Obama did something too just recently.

He did... He made the paperwork more flexible and also eliminated the rule Bush imposed about visiting the family only once every 3 years...

He also kept that resort on the southeast part of the island open. ;-)

I'll print up some fliers with the slogan: "It's closer than Antarctica!"
