This is one of those situations where I would like to use a poll feature actually, but what speed do you use for your Canon 7D (or other camera too) and why?
I'm trying to decide between a 16GB 400X or an 8GB 600X and retail for about the same. I will probably have some 1080p video each time I fill the card I think. What are some of the real life results you've seen. |

| I use 400x with no issues in the 7D for video.... I tried some older 233x and they stalled sometimes but they were mostly fine also. I use the Transcend 16Gb & 32Gb both 400x as the value is better then the big name brands. |

In between having sent my defective one back and getting my replacement unfortunately, I just thought I'd order one so that when it came back I'd have a good enough card. I used a 133X and it struggled a bit. I really just want to use the 400X if it will handle the 1080p just fine. I was just curious to see if the 600X has a significant and noticeable difference against the 400X. |

| 400x or 600x is not a very good indicator of speed as slower "x" cards often outperform models with a higher listed rating (sometimes even from the same manufacturer). Larger capacity cards are typically slower than smaller capacity versions with the same rating, too. Any UDMA CF card- and probably either of the ones you're looking at- will be more than fast enough for video. Here's a 16GB Sandisk Extreme for $49 shipped. |

B and H also has a good deal on the Sandisk 16GB CF cards.. I bought one to use in my 7D and so far it seems to handle the video recording just fine. I haven't taken any videos over 4-5 minutes yet so I can't speak for extended use.

I use Lexar Pro 233x 16gb UDMA cards and they work just fine with my 7D
