This always happens to me .. I got a beautiful single light source shot last week! Chances of this happening again are very low!

Google Zach Arias and tell me all his photos are boring. There's your real challenge.

Is sun considered a single light source? ;)

Sun is a single source, but not artificial.
"Use a single, artificial light source to dramatically light the subject of your choice."

Here's the thing... you can use the sun as a really strong single source, as well. You just have know enough about how light falls to make the sun look like an artificial source. I would say the idea behind the challenge is to use artificial lighting, but using the sun as a single key light and killing the ambient around fits with the challenge. I'd vote it well. But the lighting on your subject better be spotlighted or something obvious. (my opinion)

Not really, Anita. single light source could be interesting and creative. Abstract or low key body art are interesting subject for me to learn.

this could become boring when people dont try different POV's and possitions of the light. I think that this challenge will be a challenge. i usually use two so to go down to one will be... difficult. I hope you can think of something, and are inspired to do something.

Don't forget... you could certainly use a single artificial source and the sun for fill and still fit the anal constraints of "single source."

like many things in life, challenges are as boring or as fun as you make them

Why don't you give it a twist instead? :)
If what you see bored you, I am sure you could come up with something more exciting just by reversing what you don't like there..

Try harder, Anita.

No, couldn't have hoped for a better challenge.

I'd really love to have a Cat challenge. I feel that'd be more challenging and interesting than using something that's been intrinsic to photography for ages and is key in many individuals' practice of the art.

:/

Ok I regret jumping the gun and saying the above, I did have fun shooting for this, and I'm glad I learnt a few more things about light this week. Look forward to seeing all the photos.
I ended up entering a few other challenges that I thought I wouldn't, as well, although to some regret with one of them.

Only if there's no other light source. :)

I've submitted my original already because I think mine could be disputed. Don't think it will do too well anyway but I like it. Looking forward to seeing the other entries! Best of luck to all.
