Yep, what one might consider a mistake. It can be made to 'work' of course and might be interesting.

I think this would be a fun concept also, but it may be a difficult for folks who do not have manual control of their cameras..

You mean motion blur as opposed to out of focus?
07/18/2002 12:15:55 PM · #4
Well, I was thinking motion Blur, however I would not limit it myself. I assume motion blur woulkd get better scores.

Hmmm.. without manual cameras... I get blury shots on auto all the time. =)

Could it be something like Daisies on this page?
07/18/2002 12:45:12 PM · #6
Technically, though my guess is that most higher scores would go towards subjects more blurred than that.

//www.jameskay.com/biking/MB_1373.htm

Also perhaps something in which the subject is not blurred but the background is. Birds flying ect.

Personally I am not much for making the rules picky, just figure they sewt the idea and people do what they wish with it.

That would have a good chance of winning I think... well now people will say it is unoriginal but Great Shot none the less.

I think this James Kay photo is impossible to achieve on a non SLR digital camera... This is done by twisting the zoom while you open the shutter.

I really love that picture,.. but then I really like softer more abstract images. although your probably right that it wouldn’t do as well on this site as it might do on more artistic sites, but then maybe the more thought provoking images that are submitted to this site the more broader the minds of non artistic or new photographers minds will become.

Just a thought

thx :) that pic was really just a happy accident : )

i really like your thought

and it's one i've had myself. like what if we all just hijacked the agenda of the site and saturated it with more artistic images?

could we do it? could it be done?

Wouldn't it be possible to capture this without the twisty zoom if you were riding (on a smooth, even path) towards another bicyclist?

If not a the exact picture a variation.... something is at least possible from every camera.

Thanks! You're one of my favorite photographers, so that means a lot to me. I appreciate that.

hehe... I'll have to have my eyes hijaked by a more artistic person to join in on the revolution, but I'm willing to give it a try. Low scores, 'didn't meet the challenge', and 'I don't get it' comments be damned! Let's go for it!!!

shame we are not doing blur this week. i''ve just been to see the kodo drummers tonight and would actually have an entry! even if it may not be sufficiently artistic and i know drums are so cliche! *grin*
