Some people may already have seen this on National Geographic, but it's well worth a look.

A guy called Joel Sartore has figured correctly that many animals are no longer in the wild and only exist in real numbers in Zoos - but that means that if anything goes wrong with the Zoo breeding program they could disappear altogether - so he has set out on a mission to go around the American Zoo's with a simple studio set-up taking pictures of the animals while they are still about.

Second link is a series of still shots showing how he got the photos and how wonderfully low tech he kept it all. Includes some fascinating shots of him taking a picture - then the finished product such as shots 4&5 or 8&9

wow..... I just looked at the still shots. I want to do this!!! I want a monkey to tear my background!

Wow, the photos are amazing photos but even more fantastic are the animals! This project is a real eye opener as to the diversity, beauty & fragility of life.

I was laughing hysterically at that point! So innocent, so not giving a crap about human agenda... so warms the cockles of my heart.
