Here is my dilemma; I have a series of shots that I really like. One of the pics I feel fairly certain will do well in a free study. One of the outtakes could potentially fit the emergency challenge. "Potentially" is the dangerous word here. The explanation for emergency is somewhat nebulous. Is it a ambulance type of emergency with human loss of life, natural disaster, or a wider explanation. For instance would an axe against a tree count as an emergency in this challenge (for the tree)? would a picture of a gun to the head? (all not my pics btw). Anyways I would be willing to chance it but then I am afraid it would affect my score in free study because the pics are very similar. Anyone have any thoughts? :) |

I'm taking this like "Money"... If I look at the image and think it conveys "Money" or an "Emergency" then it meets the challenge. If it's a bunch of hoops or the title is required to explain the photo (like the axe in the tree thing -- you're being judged by people, not trees), it would, to me, be DNMC.
As for using one for Free Study, I've seen and received comments where a Free Study that is clear it was taken for another challenge in the month gets marked down sometimes. Not by me, but it's a risk.

I've seen a number of instances of *very* similar shots submitted to both a subject challenge and a Free Study, so there is a lot of precedence for doing so, IMO. I have not done so myself, so I have no idea whether there might be a negative effect on voting.

From above

I always mark down an entry in free study that was obviously taken for another challenge.
I always think it seems so desperate and lacking in imagination. |

Thanks for your thoughts. Since I really like the image I'll wait and see how she fares in FS. |
