Alright, I've got one but it's going to take a lot of effort not only on my part but that of friends willing to be part of the whole project. Here's the story:

In October a friend of mine is having an exhibition of his art work (Paintings) at a local apartment turned gallery. There will be plenty of music, drinks and fun to be had. He asked if I would be willing to through some of my photography up on the walls available (At no charge). Obviously I'd have to pay for prints etc. There's going to be an auction for the pieces and while I'm hoping to break even, I doubt I will make anything off of my current assortment of photography.

The idea I have in mind is a comic book style story board, no words, just the emotions of the father looking for his family in a crime ridden city. The story is still in the works and finding locations and figuring out who can do what for free has still not been worked out. I have quite a few friends willing to volunteer, so that's a good start. However, I'm still trying to figure out lighting and the way the story should go and how I will lay this out so that all the boards, prints, have an equal amount of good photography to be sold (Possibly) at a equal value.

So far, that's the only idea that keeps popping into my head. I start to think of other ideas but then this one keeps creeping back in. I will only have a few weeks to get all this done, working around my regular job and the jobs of friends and family.

Can anyone think of a different idea that might make for an interesting project that will capture the interest of viewers. I thought of 'portraits of people' taking a variety of different portraits, but then that doesn't seem as interesting. Looking for some ideas...if you've got one, please share...the idea I have is quite complicated and would like to do over the course of a few months rather than weeks. Still, maybe I can get it done in weeks. Who knows...any advice would be great!

My initial thought is that if you go the storyboard route, there might not be much incentive for anyone to buy any single picture; they might not "work" as well outside the context of the series. I understand the attraction of having a related group of pictures, but I'm not sure I'd make them that interdependent.

If you don't have enough with the same subject or "study" you can go with the same technical approach or aspect in how you compose or edit. Your study would be that angle or lighting or edit. You have some great stuff to show, but it will take work to make sure it flows together. I agree that you don't want them to be interdependent. That won't help you with sales if someone feels like they need them all to get the picture.

If you have time and a place or subject of interest, then shoot away, process and use it. You can let folks know that those pictures are exclusive to that showing.

You idea sounds fabulous but your time constraint makes it all but impossible. You can't rush a project like this without the quality taking a hit. Plus, you have to decide if your goal is to make great "art" or to sell. These can often be mutually exclusive.

If you want to sell, select popular subjects in your area. If you live near the ocean, beaches/shores/shells/etc. If you live near a forest, trees. You get the idea.
