Planning a couple trips around the bend this fall-winter. Really want to point my eyes towards some nature inspired work. Anyone know some good spots in the Tri-state area? If someones down for a weekend trip sometime between october and December, let me know- I always feel better/safer traveling with someone!

Best,
Devinder

Sounds like an idea to me. I m actually open to anything in a 100 mile radius from NYC (preferrably not deep in the Ocean though!)

you could travel to the Poconos its about an 1hr east of NYC, great fall foliage in October early November, there is a great waterfall/walking trail called Bushkill falls in Pa.

otherwise NYC at the end of November through the end of December is all done up for the holidays,i go every year with my family.

Poconos is a good idea, i m even thinking any of the big open spaces UPstate NY. NYC is pretty close by, i did shoot there last year on the 23rd i think. Will do something similar again- hopefully my vision has expanded a bit since then. Never heard of Bushkill falls, that sounds pretty interesting. Do the falls ever freeze?

i wouldn't think so, they have a pretty high flow rate.

One of the radio stations I was listening to yesterday mentioned that Poconos have already hit peak color this week. So Oct/Nov is probably too late for any foliage.

I guess it depends on where they were. I just checked this... foliage forecast. They might have been talking about the northern area (which it says will hit peak on 10/6. But the more southern areas are later, though not into Nov.

I live in Schuylkill County, PA which isn't TOO far from the Poconos, and I'd imagine we'll hit peak within the next week or so, so I wouldn't be surprised if the Poconos are at peak now. But I work in Harrisburg, and even here the leaves are still pretty far behind what they are when I get home.

Hi Girish,

Thatd be a 3+ hour trip for me. Ild like to keep it at about 2 hours (each eay) or so for this weekend. I do appreciate the offer though

Eli, a shoot of mine just got cancelled so i might take you up on your NYC offer.

Depending on where you are coming from, it can be. I had a 3-4 hr drive from NYC for the g2g and it was IMO a great time had by all.

I mean, are you guys only planning on going for one day? It's not really too far from me so it would be a one day trip for me, but you guys were talking about going on Saturday, right? I'm out for Saturday because of a wedding, but if you were planning on going for the whole weekend, maybe I'd be able to make it up on Sunday.

Looking at the weather status, we will have to drop the idea of driving to Rickett Glen tomorrow. We will see if next weekend is possible I know many of you guys will be there!

Thanks Mike! I was looking for an anchor point, and that will serve quite well. I might even make it an evening trip so i can scout a lota the afternoon time for a good spot. No ND filters going in but, i've got a couple ideas to compensate.
