I know someone posted about this recently, so Im just doing it again because Id really like to see one. I havent seen a Minial Editing challenge posted while active here but do they even do these anymore? I think they'd be fun, and to do something straight from camera would be very challenging.

Agreed.

Besides, this will help me learn how to better use my camera! :)

Yay! (The most recent suggestion was mine).

Glad to see this.

Hey, and if it's just us three that enter... we all will have a ribbon from it. LOL

I want a ribbon.
Ok... a little selfish... but still honest.

I know right? I mean, it's really hard to actually get a good photo without resorting to Photoshop enhancements isn't it?

;)

ETA: This is only a little tongue-in-cheek... Frankly it is hard, and that's one of the things I love about it.

I hate minimal as well, but since it translates to "minimal effort" to me, I'd be up for it. But I see Langdon in my mind's eye sitting there with his headphones on, music blaring and his rollover switch set to "Random/Auto" so I don't see this thread (or the others) getting seen by anyone who matters.

*I could be wrong, in which case consider this a provocation. ;-)

I am surprised we have only had two this year. Frankly I think we should follow up expert editing challenges with minimal. Spread them out.

Right now, all my photos get the once over from some plug-in in Nik. Sometimes there's an orgy.

I just assume I'll touch it up later. Now I'm getting lazy. My only defense is I shoot predominantly street shots, so setup isn't possible.

Setup isn't possible, you are quite right, but technique is totally the key here, move yourself, not the subject, shoot in the "right" light, etc..

The biggest keys in a minimal challenge are getting the framing right and horizon level, making sure your exposure is right, and ensuring that you have a good white balance.

What a revolutionary idea - to do more "photographs" from a camera instead of photoshopped images from a PC.
Absolutely, there should be more - at least a couple every other week. Or maybe I'm just lazy 'cause I hate spending evenings post processing on a PC after already spending the day at my office PC doing work.

always a worthy challenge, and indeed a tribute to the virtues of laziness.

Lets do it!

Though I'm sure the masses won't enjoy it.

I believe some might think of laziness when it comes to minial editing. But I beleive some out there, and probably not me, can produce one hell of a shot straight off their camera without any editing. Wedding photographers practically do it all the time! At least some that ive seen lately. It would present a primeval (so to speak) digitial photographers challenge. Which came first....the DSLR or the photoshop?

oh so serious.

Not serious.....optimistic :)
