Hey

Was very happy with my submission, although didn't do very well at all. It seemed that most voters thought it average... although there were plenty of 4's.

Anyone offer any advice or feedback?

Cheers

First, images of printed matter are rarely well received on DPC (see this thread )
Second, as hahn23 pointed out in his comment, the flame and finger are part of the story or at least add to it, so they are not distracting but rather attracting and leading the viewer through the image..
Technically it's quite a good shot, but, although humorous, it has little visual appeal

I do not mind that it is printed matter. But as such it fills the frame and is so square to the frame it is pratically a sceen shot of MS Word. Had you shot at an angle and included more of the hand and flame, I think it would have been more powerful. Also making it slightly less wordy may have helped.

BTW I did a similar thing years ago, with about the same amount of sucess. :)

I liked the image (perhaps a little too straight) and (sometimes) you can score with printed things.

Thanks all.

I originally thought of it as being held in a leather sofa with a coal/log fire in the background... but when I shot, the writing became to samll and insignificant.

The balance obviously wasn't right, and with a bit more attention to detail, I'm sure I could go back and improve thanks to all advice.

Thanks again.
