Welcome to this week's "Member of the Week" post. Every week I will post the name of a member and a link to their profile. This will be our Member of the Week. Go have a look at their profile page and/or portfolio. Enjoy their photos, leave some comments and most of all post one or two of their photos in this thread so others can see them and enjoy them. If you like you can also write a little blurb saying why you enjoy this member's photos.

This week's Member of the Week is timfythetoo. And here are a couple of his photos.

What is there not to say about timfythetoo? His Fairy picture is one of those DPC Iconic shots that is what I like to call a "site definer".

I admire him so much. Especially thrilled by his latest work:

Good luck with browsing his huge portfolio :).

THERE's an example of someone who's evolved by leaps and bounds as a photographer during his DPC experience. Wonderful choice.

timfythetoo has been my mentor in the shutter world over the past months. Our kids share classrooms at school together, and that's where we met. He's inspiring to watch work, he's a pleasure to share time with, comical, and a hell of a chef to boot (try the smoked salmon, it's to die for...).

This one cracks a smile on my face everytime. Forever, one of my favorite images:

There are too many to post. Go browse the portfolio.

Congrats Friend!

What!? He's not been MOTW?? Congrats Tim. A really cool guy with a killer port

fabulous cats

and yes, perhaps my favorite image on DPC. It's perfect.

his lowest score in 2012:

he's as good as he wants to be.

I'm most interested in his experiments in letting go. In a photo like this one, he exercises his usual control, but allows something to intercede:

I hope he continues to explore the many possible ways of interceding. The spirit and talent are there.

Congrats Timfy! I can't believe you weren't already MofW! I've so enjoyed your kids growing up over the years!

So many good images but when I think of timfythetoo this image is the first image I always think of, I got a laugh out of it then and still do every time I see it.

Great photographs and a lovely guy. I'm a big fan. It's a pleasure going through his portfolios; particularly as i'd never seen this fantastic photograph before.

Others have posted other great shots but i was particularly struck by the oddness of this one which kind of transcends, for me, the actual idea/challenge and becomes kind of surreal. I think it has to do with the tiny label on the back of the jumper. Those tiny details sure make the image sometimes!

at the line at which the sky and earth appear to meet

This!

When you have success, be it the challenges or whatever, the hardest thing to do is to let go and just let shit happen (something I've always struggle with). A photograph needs to be genuine first and for most. I've seen so many talented people stuck on that ribbon pursuit, never making anything of substance and thus failing to connect to viewers at a deeper level. Their work, loaded with sugar begins to fade shortly after the high is gone, which only leads to another rushed batch of candy to stay relevant.

What makes Tim special is not his skills at winning ribbons, or his creativity, but that he opens himself up and allows it to flow into his photographs. Tim's work is often humorous and brings similes to people's faces. When you keep viewers at arm's length, never inviting them in, your humor becomes a contrived act, no matter how much glitter you add to it. Tim has never had this problem. He still remembers why he picked up a camera in the first place and what's really important. His success never changed that. Long after this site is gone and buried Tim's work will still be remember. Not because of how good it was, but because of what he shared, the man behind the camera. We need more people like him.

Congrats to Timfy and the whole Too Clan!

What Richard ( yanko) said. Even when Tim is being silly or contrived, it always has that wonderful sense of Timfythetoo-ness to it. And that makes it all the better.

Thank you all. This is very flattering and humbling. I still remember way back being in the Middling Masses and having all of twenty challenge entries to my name. That was almost seven years ago. Hard to believe as it surely doesnt feel that long. But then it has been years since I have looked at some of the pics that you all posted in this thread. Great trip down memory lane. Thank you.

And a quick update on the Too Clan. TjankMjaster was over last night and asked me if I had entered the FS and I realized I totally spaced on it. I know i had some iPhone shot to enter but life has been a bit busy. Aimee and I are in the process of wrapping up our foster care licensing home study. We had tried domestic adoption through another program for a couple of years but have transitioned to local foster care. And even before we finished our licensing we were asked if we would take placement of two kids before Christmas. So we are trying to get our licensing done quickly so that we can open up our home to a sibling group - 4yr old boy and 6 yr old girl. Might even have a chance to adopt them down the road. The only bummer of it all is that we are not allowed to post any pictures of the kiddos online. Plenty of pics will be taken though of course. You just wont see them. :)

Any ways - thank you for the kuddos and the encouragement, especially when it comes to the branching out I have done recently. There is amazing freedom in not relegating yourself to only shooting eye candy or for targeting high scores. Really cool to see the images that you all have selected - many being faves of mine. Thank you.
