How many times you have wondered which of your 2 image will do better in voting ???

There is no way to know ( unless someone makes a parallel universe jumping machine. Atleast none of MEs are working on it :) )

How about having a challenge where you can submit max 2 entries......

probably this submission rule can be applied to specific challenge once in a month
OR
allow people to submit 2 photo's in any challenge once in a month

Who is with me ???

In the real world, a skill worth developing is the ability to sort down a set of photos and assess the attributes of each and then choose which is the best for your purpose. In business, you ultimately have to make a decision. Sometimes, the decision is wrong. Sometimes the decision is correct. But, it is the feedback loop from making a decision which is of value. It's okay to consider the feedback of others' opinions, but the decision rests with the images' author. To dither is to procrastinate on this important key element of success.

I like the idea.

Use a double-barreled gun.

nope
1/challenge is there for a reason.
this place is to help build skill, giving an auto-fail/save feature is counter to that.

if you can't decide which to enter open a forum thread asking if anybody would like to provide feedback, give at least a full day before submission deadline, and most people who see your images will recuse themselves from voting since they helped to comment on the choosing aspect.

otherwise, suck it up sunshine.

This seems to be based on the idea that one photo would be judged significantly better by the DPC voters than the other. What would be the consequences if one person took two ribbons in the same challenge?

Every challenge has an "outtakes" thread specifically for the purpose of asking folks to discuss the relative merits of their entry vs their second choice. I don't think we need to mess up the whole voting/scoring system for people to get that feedback, and, on a practical note, it's hard enough to get any kind of coding updates done to the site, without creating special and complex exceptions to the SOP.

Life is full of choices!!

Nah. Trying to figure out which photo to enter is part of the fun and part of the learning experience. One photo is enough... Plus.. I wouldnt look forward to voting on a Free Study with 500+ images. (Free studies tend to have around 190 to 240 images)

And then all the other challenges would be inflated as well.

Don't like the idea.

Just my opinion of course. :)

Well, I love the idea!

I accept the technical issues though.

How about it is just set up as two challenges - e.g. Free Study & Alt Free Study (Show us your best 'out there' shot) - those conflicted between entering eye candy versus something a bit more implicit can enter both.

Knowing me, I'd get two ribbons - brown & next-to-brown... ;-p

Perhaps not ... given the low likelihood of this being run as a special "regular" challenge, people who are interested could set it up as a side-challenge -- you just need one person who could coordinate and post all the photos and receive and tabulate the scores.

I call that person Langdon.

I suppose that's an innocent-enough epithet ...
