"One that copies or closely resembles another, as in appearance or function: “filled with business-school clones in gray and blue suits” (Michael M. Thomas)
.

How about a challenge in that people try and make their own representation of an earlier photograph. It does not have to be exact, but you musdt be able to recognize the photo being worked with. It could be the same shot with different colors, you could turn a B&W into color or the other way around. Might be another way to have a relitivly open challenge without repeating ourselves.

Interesting idea; I think it might make people realize how hard it is to duplicate a shot and cut down on the "this looks like a photograph submitted to the XYZ challenge" comments.

As an addendum to this I think the challenge should be to duplicate any shot except those listed in the "How'd They Do That" section.

I agree with that addendum.

that would be a cool challenge. i've been seeing shots that i've tried to recreate and i have yet to come anywhere even remotely close. it's very very hard. and i'd love to have a reason to try and recreate one of the previous wonderful shots that have been posted here.
