If you are climbing, please be prepared. Storms can be sudden, visibility obscured. I do hope you ARE climbing, and not motoring up; it is one of the most spectacular experiences.

a buddy of mine volunteered at the peak for a while as part of his meteorology studies. He invited me and a friend - and i m going - but i m not super sure about stuff. I m gonna take two light lenses and my main camera body up with - pack some extra socks, wear and pack clothes - and water+food. the rest i m not too sure about. lenses i m thinking about taking up 24-70 and a 100mm macro.

heading out now. gonna limit myself to a 16-35mm and a 100mm prime. they're my lightest lenses and i m not gonna use a flash either. hope i find some interesting shots.

Have a blast, and enjoy the hike. Hot as hades this weekend, but that shouldn't bother you with the elevation, I hope. Looking forward to the photos.

Been up and down several times (once hiking the rest driving). It's hot as heck out today. Bring lots of water.

Thanks!

that was challenging... Had i not been a complete idiot and left my battery charger home - i probably still wouldn\'t have had much energy to document the trip. I wouldn\'t call myself weak, but that climb and descent really pushed me.

I managed to document the first couple hours before my battery unexpectedly dropped its bars hastily to zero. Will post shots later on.

Ha. Well I was 14 when I did a several days' trek through the White Mountains, the last day climbing Mt. Washington. It rained much of the time but was still one of my peak life experiences. I hope despite the battery disaster and the "push" it was worth it for you.

The battery dying probably lessened your burden to be honest. Forget pictures... just get through it and enjoy it. Glad it was a good experience. I'll get up there soon I hope (new to the area). I'll hit you up for advice. ;-)

yeh totally worth it. Friends pushed me to make the descent when i was pretty much set on the train.

Finally have some time to sit down and think back.

LittleMav - that woulda been great! lol - totally outa budget tho

tnun- storm followed us on our way down, but our meteorologist fella had it all predicted.

bohemka - i m a novice at climbing/hiking, but the 4 bottles of water helped! Some parts are still icy, so might wanna make sure you're okay with that! We used the ammonoosuc ravine trail. i slowed my friends a bit - so it took us 4 hours to climb up and about 3:15 ish coming down. If you're in decent shape, probably will be quicker. I'd probably not tackle something like that solo tho - take a friend.

Thanks Nathan, we did! it was hot coming down but most of the way was pretty decent.

Some good shots. I like the shot with the bridge and the others ahead, the shot of the pool with the lens flare, the shot of your feet/the waterfall, and the shot of the lake above timberline. Taking good documentary shots does not always mean the same thing as taking good "fine art" or "landscape" or whatever you want to call it shots. To me, these were the best from a documentary standpoint. It's hard to take shots of this type of environment without seeming cluttered or lacking focus, but these succeeded.

thanks! i always appreciate some words on anything i shoot. Bear gave me some learning the past weekend on landscape shots - so i m hoping it showed a bit in my boston shots a little.

Nice set. Most people don't like hiking with me when I have my camera as I stop all the time. But at the same time they don't like me without the camera because then I go too fast. LOL. I've never hiked all the way up. I've done Tuckerman Ravine and driven it several times (and taken the train once).

thanks!

I lost battery power pretty quick, so i was frugal with my shots. Man that was a tough hike for pretty much a first time. Being fit has a whole different meaning since.
