I'm entering The Wild & Scenic River Photo Contest. If you could help me choose 3 photos out of the 6 I would appreciate it.

What they are looking for..

Submit photos or video taken at one of our nation’s rivers that have earned a place in the Wild and Scenic Rivers system between now and July 12th, and you may be eligible to win a bit of green for yourself and a donation to your favorite river charity.

The River Management Society and our colleagues at the National Park Service, are looking for striking digital images and video that capture the unique qualities of national Wild, Scenic or Recreational rivers or their “outstandingly remarkable” natural or cultural values. While rural rivers may come to mind, several Wild and Scenic Rivers are located near cities, too! Visit the River Management Society's Facebook page for contest information, and locate your nearest Wild and Scenic Rivers by visiting www.rivers.gov.

Capture grand panoramas or up-close images of people, wildlife and vegetation alongside, on or in a river. Submit images that showcase your river experiences, whether relaxing on the bank, swimming, paddling, fishing or hiking.

Photo Contest Details

What I have...All the photos are from the Wekiva River here in Florida

I also have this one but I don't think that a B&W will do well in this contest...not sure...

Any input is appreciated...the due date is July 15th (in the official rules)

ETA: Oh, and if they are total crap please tell me.

3, 4 and 5 would be my picks :)

well, the classic question "is color critical to this image" to me makes the case for monochrome. most (of course not all) rivers have GREEN all over the place. so just for kicks pick your favorite grayscale and tone it and see what ya get. yours may stand out from the crowd more this way.
my 2 cents.

FWIW, in order (best to ...er... not so best): 3 (Heron), 2 (river & dock), 4 (river), 6 (turtle), 1 (end of dock), and 5 (tree in water). As far as your b&w, no opinion - I like it, but am not sure it is strong enough to do well in the contest. The only ones I'd encourage you NOT to enter are 1 and 5. The end of the dock has no people in it, and kind-of wants some. The tree in the water has issues. I love #3 - very nice shot, and I like turtles, but think either 2 or 4 are stronger candidates for a contest.

Good luck to you, whichever you choose.

My favs would be 2 and 4.
Followed by 6 and 3 since they would fit in the challenge as well.
5 not so because it gives the impression of a part being missing above.

Good luck :) and keep us briefed upon the results.

#2 (2800) and the monochrome work for me. The others are pretty average. But both of these show STRUCTURE and the contest is "wild and scenic rivers", so....

Just thought I'd let you know that I got an Honorable Mention for this Photo Contest...Thanks again for your input and help...

they are also using this one for their Photo Contest Announcement (2013's)...I did not enter this one into the contest...(guess I should have)

We went out yesterday for 7 HOURS (What was I thinking!!!) Luckily it was very overcast and it even rained on us...
