Lighting glass and metal is hard. Have you gotten a copy of "Light Science and Magic" yet?

This is an open backed watch correct?

Set it on frosted glass or plexi and light the crap out of it from the bottom side.

That watch wants light painting I think. Stop the movement, and use a tiny penlight to illuminate it while the camera does a long exposure (in an unlit room of course)

Hey Stewart just an idea have you tried to shoot it with different angles of lighting and then bring it into PS and layer what works best. That's essentially what they do for any product shot very rarely is it done in one shot. Just an idea.

Sure, combine it with Damon's suggestion above, and you'll create some grand stuff.

ETA: To do what Damon is suggesting, it's critical that you use a very steady tripod, and that you use a remote trigger so that you NEVER touch the camera.. (and don't touch the subject/table/tripod/anything)
