Is there a way to share photos with groups...example, taking pictures at an event, uploading them somewhere, and then members of the group can go to the site and download what they want? I've seen sites where members of the group can view photos and have prints made for a fee, but not where they can download them.

Dropbox for sure, but I think Imageevent lets you do all the above

I always use Google Plus..

I can upload everything into one album and then when you go to share it, share it by "link" only and it will stay private except for those whom you share it with.. but it won't be open to the public..

I do this for my church events and have done this for when I do pictures for whatever reason, just had a recital that I took pictures for and did it that way.. then I number those photos and give my email to it that way if someone wants an original copy to edit themselves or print they can have it.. if you have prices if you are charging, then sometimes I have offered a paypal donation button that way they can pay..

I Love how that works..

I use drop box as well, but I like that for when I am on the go.

My sister just did her wedding at Capsule to collect the random snaps and it was quite painless, and required no downloading of software, mirroring of drives, or signing up, so it is perfect for sharing with a low tech crowd.
The downside is that it sure looks like they are selling the stuff everyone uploads as books prints ect with no model to share with the photographers, so your DRM is pretty screwed if you go with path, but for sharing it looks pretty nice, and you can grab whatever is put up digitally.
