My daughter ( wickedforgood)and I will be in Boston from July 31st to Aug 3rd. We are planning a gtg with Denise. Her niece and PHOTOKID may join us as well. We are meeting around lunch but the rest of the detail are still to be determined. All are welcome to join in and any suggestions are more than welcome!

So far we are going to see Finding Neverland - the musical, on Friday night and the aquarium at some point!

We take ownership of our new money pit shack shed house on the 31st, so I'll be tight on time, but I would love to say hello.

Regarding the aquarium (or the museums), see if Denise or anyone else with a library card can look into "library passes" for the venues and days you want. It can save a ton of money.

I've only been in Boston for two years, but I'm happy to help if you have any questions regarding logistics and attractions.

bohemka great idea about the library passes, I'll see if I can get 2 for them for the aquarium.
Boston is such a walkable city, I thought we could walk around the waterfront / Faneuil Hall / Boston common / Public Gardens and head down Boylston Street.
The Boston Library is beautiful to see. the John Hancock has an observation deck. The Pru is a great place for a snack and a view.

Bohemka it would be great if you have time to stop by and thanks for the library pass idea for the aquarium. Hopefully it's not like the passes here in Ottawa, there is a 1 year waiting list!! Denise I love what you have planned!! This is going to be fun!!

Sorry Bohemka I posted the wrong date. We will be getting togehter on Saturday Aug 2 not the 3rd. I hope you can still find some time to gtg.

If there is anyone else in the area that wants to join in let us know.

Thanks for the heads up. I will still try to make it. Just one note, though: I see a suggestion for the John Hancock observation deck... which I think is closed. I believe the Pru has the only sky-high view available (skip the actual deck and go to the bar/restaurant for a drink to save money (and quench your thirst)).

I think if you're hitting the waterfront, the North End is nearby and worth a visit as well, if only to walk down Hanover Street to the Paul Revere statue and back (well, after hitting the Old North Church since you'll be so close). Fun neighborhood (and of course you'll need a cannoli). The Freedom Trail is easily followed as well. Denise knows all this... I'm just restating everything she knows better than I do.

If an SC member is watching, maybe the title of the thread could be changed to Aug 2, as the date has changed. Would be a bummer if someone missed it because they didn't read through the thread.

I will PM a couple.

Woohoo! I am just about to pack the car and hit the road. I will send a PM to everyone so we can all get on the same page for the gtg!

Date is changed, thread is bumped ... have a great time! I did spend about three months in the Boston area ... about thirty years ago. Don't really have many pictures through. :-(

Sure wish Penny and I could be there, but oddly enough, a former colleague of hers is attending a conference in Boston this week, and will be taking the Fat Ferry over to the Cape to spend the day with us on the 2nd :-( Have fun! It's a good gang of peoples.

Well that is fairly ironic... I hope Penny enjoys her time with the friend, Robert. Hopefully you are starting to feel better from your surgery as well =)

Ditto on regrets. I will be volunteer photographing the Pan Mass Challenge that day. A charity bike race to raise money for cancer research for those not familar with it.

A huge THANKS to Denise, Photokid, blackgriffin and Denise's niece and nephew for a great Boston day! Sorry you couldn't make it Bohemka, it was a fun filled day. We started at the State house and worked our way to MIT, through to the park with the swan boats (sorry the name escapes me right now) en route to Fanuiel Hall for a bite to eat. Before we called it a day the three kids went on some rides at the fair in front of city hall.

Thanks again for going above and beyond, Michelle and I had a great day...Pictures to follow when I get home!
