I love 'in the style of challenges'. I think odriew's work is particularly distinctive. So:
'In the style of odriew': For this challenge explore the dreamy and bold work of odriew and create a work that might be mistaken for one of his.

Yes, yes, YES!! Always been a huge fan, and very frustratingly could never figure out how he achieves his effects.
Excellent choice, Paul.

I find it interesting that members with unique styles such as this routinely do poorly in challenges, yet receive high praise and challenges in their honor.
I think it may be a case of strong appeal for a narrow crowd, and another sterling example of why a DPC score is not always a good indicator of the quality of one's photography.

For me, his work is appealing in that he takes the everyday, the candid and the happened-upon and captures it in its rawness. BUT, doesn't leave it there...he adds his own personal touch with some delicate processing that introduces the viewer to his perspective. |

Or...could it be that a recognizable style is not a result of people recognizing your subject, or the result of perfect technicals? And that lack of recognizable style is precisely what is required to get a high score? Because there is nothing to object to, nothing to subtract points because of, nothing at all distracting? Just askin'.

I'm glad they made this a challenge, one of odriew's photos inspired me to blatantly rip it off pay homage.
But I didn't quite check all the boxes on the first outing, and I would like to show it to a few people in PM to decide if I should do a reshoot with some aspects more similar to the original and/or change anything.
If anyone does not mind, please let me know if you can take a look. |

I LOVE this challenge.... one of the many very talented artists, yes I said it, artists, on DPC. Will have to make the extra effort to get the camera out for this one. |

I would like an extension on this one in either direction. I have a good one from a couple days before it was announced, and I have hopes I can pay tribute with a good one in a few days, but I haven't had a spare second this week to do anything. I really want to participate in this one. Thank you in advance. |

I might have a couple of candidates that might be in the neighborhood in terms of an odriew subject, but I am struggling to figure out how to process them to get a similar color palette and mood. |
