Never seen anything quite like this before. Supposedly, "This Hunan Province town is where fireworks were invented and the show has never
been equalled in the West."

Enjoy!

I did enjoy it, but they are simulated. If you search for "FWSim" it's a fireworks simulator program, and although I'm sure it was a lot of work for the guy (he says it took him a week in the youtube description), the accompanying backstory must have been made up somewhere along the line.

Yeah, it looked like cgi pretty quick, and the lack of smoke didn't help.

Here.. Have some mind-blowingly good fireworks as seen from a drone.

Also, a real version of what Bear posted, absolutely unreal - someone needs to get out there with a drone!

Nah, those can be real, as can be smiley faces. It's actually done by laying the colored bits in the same pattern around the charge. Pretty cool stuff.

The BIG giveaway that you had no chance to perceive was the simultaneous explosions and arrival of the sound from them. The creators ignored the speed of sound, very subconsciously powerful signal that something was seriously amiss.

I love the smiley faces at 17:15. Also, at the end there are some pretty incredible fireworks displays linked. At least when I watched it. (ETA: I don't know if that kind of stuff is the same for everyone. I don't watch much youtube stuff.)

Truly exceptional but this video is a prime example ad why the FCC wants to ban then for commercial use

I loved the majesty of fireworks as a child I suppose. Now I always just find myself wondering why we need to glorify war, terrify pets and pollute the environment. Believe me, I know my thinking is in the minority - and bah humbug. I guess it is my age showing ;)

It particularly bugs me when they fill a stadium with smoke just before the start of a game ...

Nagaoka Hanabi Taikai in Niigata Prefecture (usually first Saturday in August). They use the second biggest firework size, which is 90cm in diameter and shoots up to 550-650 metres.
