Is this right? What make it different from Best of 2014?
02/01/2015 12:09:13 AM · #2
Same editing as Best of: Advanced.

It's an excuse to enter something more on the edge ... something "artsy". Things like motion blur and OOF for example will be given more of a fair shake perhaps.

Art is subjective of course, so I could be totally out in left field with my observation. :-)

and the special rule should also say the capture date range is 1 Jan 2014 thru 31 Dec 2014, correct?

soooooooo is there a certain processing that is expected in this or just a regular free study photo submission?

Art to me is something that is drawn or created by someones mind on their own.

...the challenge assumes I have a "greatest" work of Art. Probably a stretch in my case.

Can anybody explain what is meant by "Art" in this challenge?

No, the Yellow Flag for the special rule is to inform
Extra Rules: This challenge has the added benefit of being juried. Details to come.

I think it is always Advanced, it is your best "arty" piece taken last year.

...last years jury results.

It's really not about processing and/or being blurry.

First: Art of 2014 should be Advanced, not Expert. We are talking about photographic art not illustration art.

Second: Shouldn't the dates the picture is taken be Jan. 1st 2014 through Dec. 31st 2014 instead of Feb. 1-14th 2015?

SC has made Langdon aware of the date error. It will be fixed.

Thanks

Paul

[Now fixed]

It is listed as advanced. The extra flag is about the jury

I know and i'm all in favor of that. The thread was started by people implying that is should be something else (Expert i assume).

Basically, just another fancy word for another free study challenge?

Photography "art" can be taken in so many ways... is there certain compisition, certain subjects that make photography art better than others?

No...and no.

It's like porn, you know it when you see it...at least that's how it works for me.

I don't approach it that way - I'd put in quite different images. Having said that, my Best of 2014 would probably have been better left for this challenge...

How does one volunteer(or be nominated) to participate on the jury?

You'll get a summons via PM.

Does one have to be arty to be summoned by the jury or is it just a matter of being eloquent ?

Looking forward to voting and commenting on this one.
