Taking another trip to the northeast are we?

Just kidding. I would love to see this happen as it might even get me to get off of my duff and go out and take a few shots.

Mind you, it is still snowing here so the shots would be rather dreary looking. Hmmm come to think of it, most of my barn shots are rather dreary looking.

Yes, Neat suggested a very similar topic last week: the country life
I love the topic but have my fingers crossed that it can wait just a leetle longer... it's still so gross here. Spring has not sprung :-(

I think barns and old buildings bring out the total disregard for fences, no trespassing signs and respect for private property more than any other photo topic. It's why a lot of farmers, ranchers and those living in the country have very little respect for photographers. For those that fight the temptation and either get permission first or pass it up, I salute you.

Mike (who, when out shooting with a group of people a few times, has pointed out to the angry land owners when they pull up in their truck... "I hope you notice which side of the fence I'm on.")

I can't speak for anyone else, but I can assure my DPC friends that not once have I ever encroached on anyone's property to take a barn shot.

Most of my shots were taken from the road or the ditch and truth be told, I have on occasions been asked if I would love to go inside the barn to take a few shots.

Totally agree...I've been invited in and NEVER been pointed down the road...and I never Trespass. I have asked permission more than once. Respect is very important to me...

I salute you guys. I took a photo just yesterday of a guy and his weirdo glasses (it felt like we were in deepest Florida redneck territory). I did ask and he did allow a phone camera photo. It can be done legally, it really can. [thumb][/thumb]

Blatant generalization, or a direct reflection of with whom you associate.

Funny......here in rural south-central Pennsylvania I find most farmers to be warm, friendly, and accomodating. The last place I stopped to ask if I might photograph some old machinery, the man actually directed me up into the woods above his place where there was a veritable treasure trove of abandoned vehicles. If you peruse my portfolio, you will see a lot of abandoned vehicles, equipment, barns, outbuildings, and farm whatnot, all taken with the owner's blessings.

Curiously, it never made it into the queue as a ver II, probably my fault. It's in the queue now, though.
