I have an old pentax K-r but it's getting a bit long in tooth and I'm thinking of selling it now before the price on the used market drops more.

To replace it?!?

I'm between a Pentax K3 or the new K3ii.

I'd love the ii, but it's $300 more. :/

Oh! How to justify to my husband, lol.

It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

In fact the K50 is very nicely specced and priced. New cameras are way better than they need to be.

All camera purchases are ultimately justified. If you can wait that long. I'm still waiting to ribbon.

I just moved to the K50 and couldn't be happier. That, and another body would probably lead to a divorce. Then I would have to sell it to pay for the lawyer.

I lovvveee my k-3

I was eyeballing both of them when I decided.
The ii didn't seem much advantage of moving too because it did not have an onboard flash (I use mine all the time) and it was pretty much the same as the k-3... It didn't have the brand name on back which I never understood in the firat place what the big deal over that issue was
.not worth the extra $300. The K-3 well worth it

K-3II looks nice. Maybe a bit more robust shutter than the lower tier, like the K-50. Pentax has a problem with their shutters. I have repaired/replaced three shutters on three cameras (K-50, Km, K100). When they work Pentax are great cameras.

The big thing for me is the II's gps data. I know it also has something that's suppose to make still shots done on a tripod really pop, too- but as I do mainly people and street photography it's not something I'd use (or not too often). But if I get into stock photography...

I'm hopeful that I can get about 300 for my two DA lenses (18-55 and 70-210- I think, I've never used them) and my kr's body.

That would make the K3 about $400 net and $600 for the k3 ii.

My KR and DA lenses were bought second hand about 2 years ago, but I've only used it for about 6 months. They don't make the kr anymore, I don't think, so now seems like a good time to sell- before a 12 megapixel camera becomes obsolete.

not had a shutter problem yet on any of my 3 (K01, K200, K50). is it possible you take more photos than I do?

I got my first Pentax in 1979 and have used them extensively and exclusively. Never had a shutter go bad.
