Figured there'd be so many chalk pics, I shouldn't enter 'em. You know what they say about hindsight.

EntryEntry with handy color card sidebars and Fuller O'Brien names for these colors for those who can not find a pastel on a dark background.

You know voting was rough when only the top 21 of 186 score better than a 6 - there were some amazing shots in here.

Brennan, lovely photo, but while the shades in the color chart photo are pastels and remain so in that shot, they morphed out of there in the final edit - particularly the pinks. I was very lenient with what I accepted as Pastel. My working definition of "Pastel" is high luminance (50+), medium to low saturation (<65) on the HSL scale. If I click on the color chart photo I get colors that are just that. In the final, not so much. Your "dusky rose" on the underside of the shell has almost gone "hot pink", as you can see here in my PS Color Chooser dialogue. "New" color showing is the from the submitted image while the "current" is your Dusky Pink - it crossed the extreme on both sides.

Had you submitted the Color Chart photo I suspect you would have done fine - except for those who believe that pastel shots shouldn't have black in them, for some reason.
