Hi,
I am headed to Bermuda on a cruise ship next week. I've never been there and besides one snorkeling excursion we have nothing else planned.
I was wondering if anyone has tips? Good photo locations? Anything a must see/do?

i just took a cruise there in June. Celebrity.

This was my second time.

the three main place to check out are St George which you will get to by ferry since its on the far side of the island, that wheer you will see the Bermudian architecture and old catholic church.

The second is Hamilton which is right in the middle of the island, its a city with lots of shopping.

The third is the south shore beaches. My advice, avoid horeshoe bay, and instead tell the bus driver to go to Warrick bay and Stonehole. You could hike along the beach all the way to Warwick but sits hot and the terrain and get tough, there is a path through the park off the beach though. There will be a lot less people, a whole lot less than at horsehoe. the water is crystal blue, the sand is coarser but still pink and you can just float and snorkel all day.

if you dont have kids with you, rent a motor bike one day, its the best way to see the island since you can stop where ever you want.

let me know if you have any other questions.

We went on the same cruise as Mike, only a week earlier.

We did go to Horseshoe Bay, and he's right, it was a little crowded, but not shoulder to shoulder or anything. I don't think you can go wrong at any of the beaches, honestly.

We did both lighthouses (because I ALWAYS do the lighthouses). Gibbs Hill is more easily accessible and more photogenic (either the bus from the dockyard or from Hamilton) than St. Davids.

We were going to take the ferry one day to St. Georges (and then the bus to St. Davids lighthouse), but were too far back in the line to get the next boat, so we took the ferry to Hamilton, and then the bus to St. Davids light. I'm glad we did. We got to see a lot more of the island than planned and we got to talk to a few locals. The people there are fantastically nice. In fact, as we were heading back to the bus stop from the lighthouse, a nice retired man pulled up and asked where we were going. We told him St. Georges and he said "hop in, I was planning to go to Hamilton, but I haven't been to St. Georges in a while." I don't normally take rides from strangers, but he didn't creep me out, and we had a great conversation on the way.

From St. Georges, we took the bus back to Hamilton, and we ended up on a different route than before, so we saw even more of the island. And found out that our bus driver lived in a $900,000 home!

Another thing we really enjoyed was Crystal Caves. There's actually two cave there, Crystal and Fantasy. Based upon reviews on Trip Advisor, we only did Crystal. They'll try to sell you tickets to both, but people say doing both is a waste of time and money.

Across the street from the caves is a decent place to eat called the Swizzle Inn. Basic pub fare, but good. It's right at the bus stop for the caves.

Wednesday evening in Hamilton is "Harbour Nights". They close off Front Street (the main drag) and have a big street fair with food, entertainment and local artisans.

No matter what you end up doing, I think you'll enjoy it. It was my first time there, and I want to go back already.

I did both caves the first time i was there and highly recommend it, both caves are different but close enough that you could skip like Larry said.

if i were to avoid one place it would be snorkel park by the cruise ships. its a fake beach tourist trap.

if you want good photo ops there are a few state parks before you get to horseshoe that are just beautiful water views.

also if you go to elbo beach, go to the resort, not the public beach, the resort is much more picturesque.

this is a little cove directly south of warwick, perfect if you have kids.

btw the way, those last three are just about straight out of the camera. those colors are real :)

These were taken at Aston(sp?) state park, no swimming but beautiful shore line

this was taken at the first beach on the south shore road, iforget the name, but you can swim there.

Thanks to both of you! Mike...great photos! It looks beautiful. We did want to go see a lighthouse. I don't think we will have time for the caves. We are only in port 1 full day and we have a 3 hour snorkel tour in the morning that day.. I read something about a beach that has a lot of sea glass on it. I thought that might be a good photo spot. I also heard that everything closes at 5PM except restaurants.
