Yeah it's that time of year, my annual cold arrived this past weekend...I thought it was on its way out, but it's a toughie, still kickin round. At the stuffy-head/fuzzy-brain stage, can barely taste anything so hardly any appetite, sinuses either clogged or dripping like a tap, energy level about 60% of what it usually is.

Been eating homemade chicken soup, veggies, oatmeal, lots of fluids like juice and water and tea. Have some cough drops and stuff like Nyquil and Zzquil, which work but can lead to being way too groggy the next day. Will probably be in bed by 9 or so with cats and a heating pad.

Any other suggestions? All I can say is, so glad it's not the flu that I had last year - took 2 weeks off work for that suckah.

Actually, I recommended against any alcohol as I'm pretty sure it impairs the immune system ...

Cool, how on earth do you make colloidal silver? And well it's been 13mths since I had the flu last year, so I was doing pretty good...I think going to hot yoga class probably wasn't the best idea. I only get sick, as in badly enough to cancel work, once a year.

Vitamin C - 500 mg morning and again at night.\
And then take 250mgs daily for a preventative.

Truly a cold, or is it allergies? The milder winter has pollen counts through the roof. I've been suffering since Saturday - my throat feels like it was a stunt double in The Revenant. For allergies, two tablespoons each of raw unfiltered honey and unfiltered apple cider (with "The Mother") in a glass of water.

Thanks all for the responses! Here's what I've tried.

Alice...Been swilling rosehip tea, made only from rosehips and nothing else (remember buying em at the Spice Company when I visited Bear and Penny last year), which has 20x the amount of vitamin C as citrus...so good on that count!

GeneralE...Sorry but by the time I read your post I'd already had some red wine, so had some more, didn't hurt. I also keep some Fireball on hand for toddies etc. Fireball is sweet, cheap cinnamon-flavoured whiskey but at least I know what it is and don't drink it often!

BDH...Oh no, nope definitely NOT allergies. In the past I've suffered from hayfever, of all things, and there is a huge diff between cold and hayfever. No red itching eyes for example or multiple sneezing fits. And though the early part of winter up here was definitely bizarrely warm it's been much more like a traditional cold snowy winter here since January. Also in addition to drinking rosehip tea, been blending it with green tea and sweetening it with maple syrup...which has way more trace minerals than honey.

Georges...I drink Coke about 1x a year and always wonder what compelled me to drink battery acid...though I guess the fact it makes your nose feel fizzy doesn't hurt :-)
