Hi all,
Some of you probably know that i've been a wedding photographer for a few years now and it's going well. I wanted to post this recent wedding here as I was thrilled and flattered to be asked by DPC member Chris - aka  mrchhas - to travel over to Italy and photograph his big day with his beautiful wife Areknaz. It was a fantastic few days. I posted up some personal work I had time for in the recent Photo Essay thread but I wanted to post a link to the wedding photos here. An amazing day indeed!

Thanks all. It was a very special wedding and a real pleasure to shoot. Lovely people and, oh, that Italian evening light!
For those interested in the gear side of things here is what was used…
Two Sony A7's
Voigtlander 21mm f/4 Leica mount
Sony 35mm FE f1.4
Zeiss 50mm f1.5 Sonnar - Leica mount
Leica 90mm f/2 Summicron (old 1963 chrome version)
Sony RX10 as extra back up
I'm mostly happy with that set up although i'm planning on getting another one or even two Sony A7's (or a A7II or A7R) as I don't like changing lenses on the go. A four camera/four focal length kit will suit me just fine and i'm settled into a 21/35/50/90 kit. I'm giving the RX10 away to my son soon so 3 or 4 A7's will cover back up as well. I use a little Nissin i40 flash for the few times i use flash (really only for evening dancing shots)
I'm also planning on replacing the Voight 21mm with the new Zeiss Loxia 21mm f2.8 as it's a huge step up in quality and i'm really enjoying the 21mm focal length at the moment.

Yea, me too. He said he'll be back at some point - he's in-between cameras at the moment and pretty busy. |

Thanks Robert. Not sure about the black cowl myself but Areknaz is Armenian and it was an Armenian priest who travelled down from Milan to marry them and the ceremony was Armenian. The church was lovely and is 1200 years old. One of the things I really enjoy about this job is the variety of ceremony - i've always been very interested in ritual and religion and I find it all fascinating. I'm just in my 5th year of doing it now and i've photographed all sorts from Welsh baptists in tiny chapels to Humanist ceremonies up mountains to born again evangelical Christians.

It intrigued me as well, so I had a quick search for info. The Order Of Service shows that the ceremony was conducted under the rites of the Armenian Apostolic Church which is one of the most ancient Christian communities. It is part of the Oriental Orthodoxy (rather than, say Eastern Orthodox) which also include Coptic, Eritrean and Ethiopian churches.

hey folks!
yes clive did an amazing job, we are all amazed at the photos and i'll officially plug him here on DPC--- if you need a wedding photog he's your guy.
a part from that, thanks for all the compliments! the ceremony was in ancient armenian dating back to 404 A.D. and was impossible to understand for most everyone but the priest and his helper. :) to be able to do this I had to be baptized as christian armenian... as you may expect that doesn't happen often to a 37 year old american living in italy and I've become known amongst their community a bit.... i've met the bishop of armenia already and should meet the arch-bishop of france who apparently is excited to meet me!
I'm hoping to start entering challenges again soon, I've just got to organize some things.... for those of you with good eyes you may have noticed we're expecting! little Connor should be born in about a month and he'll be used in several challenges, so you'll see him soon :)

I noticed, but was too discreet to say anything :-) Conor's my nephew's name (one "n" only) so I'll think of baby Connor often. |

Yes, next time i'm over in Italy - and to be sure, it was my first time there but I certainly fell in love with the country - I will hopefully meet up and do some baby shots of little Connor!
The whole few days were such a privilege and a pleasure to photograph.
We also did a quick shoot the day after the wedding which was great. Getting the most of those beautiful Italian sunsets. - I've posted a few shots here... I'll sort a few more photos from that shoot out soon.
