Hi Folks,

My girlfriend has recently ditched her Nikon D300 in favour of a Fujifilm X-T10. However she has a near-new Tamron 60mm f/2 macro lens from her Nikon that she'd dearly love to use with her X-T10. Not being familiar with the Nikon/Tamron mounts and not knowing anything about the Metabones adaptors I'd appreciate some input. Specifically I'd like to know whether it's possible to adjust aperture with the Metabones adaptor (the lens does not have an aperture ring). Also I'm unsure whether we need the Metabones for Nikon F lens or G lens. Anyone out there wise in the ways of this stuff?

Cheers,
Q.

Thanks for the feedback MAK. So, does the cameras metering still work? If you shoot in aperture priority does the camera still calculate shutter speeds OK? And do the camera's manual focus assists (split image/peaking) still work?

Cheers,

Mine is the speed booster.. I no longer use it and would be happy to sell it ;) let me know.

The speed booster enables the lens to be used as its intended focal length, i.e it 'kind of' makes the fuji like a full frame camera so a 90mm is actually 90mm instead of 135mm. do I make sense?

There are two Metabones adapters--the G one has the Adapter ring, and the F does not (since G lenses don't have a ring, and F lenses do).

I have the Nikon to Metabones adapter with the aperture ring. It works fine. My small regret is that there's a small tripod shoe on it that you can't take off because it would leave a small hole where the screw is that would let light in. Presumably, they have a kit consisting of a screw you can use in it's place.

I've written to them, and they said they'd send one. Months later, when I never received it, I wrote again. They said sorry, they would send "another". Never got that one either. Poor service.

Otherwise, it's fine.

There are also clones. I have a 3rd party adapter for Nikon to Micro-4/3's mount, which is also fine and much cheaper. I did invest in the higher quality Metabones adapter though this time after reading a few horror stories about people not being able to get their expensive Nikon lenses off third party adapters! But it's probably not a real issue.
