Hi folks,

Decided to have a crack at displaying some images on a website of my own. It's still very much a work in progress, but if anyone has time to have a look I'd appreciate any feedback you might have.

Cheers,

i also like the neat simple layout. i do not particularly like how the photo darkens when the mouse roll over it. some cool street there!

That's interesting; I like how it darkens, letting me know I can click through to individual image, and the slideshow. Different strokes and all that ;-)

that is the beauty of HTML5 based websites, it shows some amazing effects on an existing photograph without modifying it.

Thank you for sharing. Some superb photos and you I can see you are skilled across the board. I especially enjoyed your street photography. The site looks nice and clean and simple and all loaded nice and zippy.

Gorgeous photos on a lovely website. I do like the simple elegance of it.

I get confused, though... when I want to see something, I hover my cursor over it and it goes away. I'd think it would "light up" then... not the other way.

But, I got used to it. I only mention it because you asked.

Thanks for sharing your fabulous images, too!

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Much appreciated. I can't claim any real cleverness when it comes to setting up the website. 'Format', much like Smugmug, Wix, Squarespace etc, allows the user to select templates as a starting point. Then it's just a case of personalizing the layout by selecting things like preferred fonts, colours etc and modifying a little of how it operates. All pretty basis. The site is currently only a free trial, but I think I'll spend the 140.00 AUD per year to keep it going. That allows me to upload 1,000 images, which for me should be plenty. Once again, thanks for taking the time to have a look.

Super site! Love the grey background.
The street photos are wonderful, where shall I begin"? The tarot card reader stayed with me for now; the Chinese man in front of his menu....
Vey well done.

Ah, and splendid DOF

Very nice site. Great pictures. Only thing I noticed was that your copyright statement at the bottom of the page does not have a year. I don't know that you need one, but if leaving it off was not intentional...

I'm an accomplished critic, so having only that to say about your site is a very nice compliment.

Does the page templates have a place for comments - not all the pictures need or want a comment, but on some (like the landscapes), it might be nice to know more about the shots.

Just curious have you looked at the option of Adobe portfolio? this is included (free) in your Adobe CC plan ($9.99 per month).

Great suggestions. Thank you. I've amended the copyright statement and added comments on some of the landscapes that operate as pop ups when hovering over the thumbnails and as footers when viewing a clicked image.

Thanks for that, but I must be the only photographer on the planet who doesn't use Lightroom. I've always preferred ACDSee Pro. Although to be honest, ever since I started using the X100S/X100T I shoot JPEGs that require so little PP that I could probably do it with Windows. :)
