Create a collage of your own photos.

Wikipedia gives a good idea of what a collage is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collage

You'll find that to make it seem like a true collage, your photos will need to be very different from each other.

Extended Editing.

Looks interesting. Would be nice to have 2 weeks for this. 1 week to make the photos, 1 week for making the collage.

Is there any distinction between what you're looking for and what I would call "Photomontage"?

Originally posted by wiki:

Collage made from photographs, or parts of photographs, is called photomontage. Photomontage is the process (and result) of making a composite photograph by cutting and joining a number of other photographs. The composite picture was sometimes photographed so that the final image is converted back into a seamless photographic print. The same method is accomplished today using image-editing software. The technique is referred to by professionals as compositing.

Photomontages are often seamless. I want to see the seams.

I would love to try this if we could use elements of photos we have already taken. That would give us time to put the collage together.

Don, does that work for you?

Sure, whatever works for you from a validation perspective is fine with me.

(I'm going here again) If we are able to go into our catalogs for source material can we please, PLEASE, add an exception that allows for DNG's to serve as valid source material given that the only thing you can potentially edit in them is capture time?

Otherwise I'm absolutely fine with this.

For this challenge you may use your archives as a source. Any image with a valid EXIF will be acceptable. For this challenge ONLY, images archived as DNG files are acceptable.

God bless you!!!

In the sample photomontage in Wiki, you can certainly see the seams. And so glad that FINALLY we're allowed to mine our archives for source images!!!! Wish that were a standing rule in Extended.

Are you crazy? I have 1756 photo's just from last week's outing, so who is going to mine my 186 785 photo's in 960 Folders taken in the last 6 years?

I know, only 186 of them are any good, but I never marked/tagged them. Hmm, I can see the worry in your eye.
Right, a couple of late nights coming up...

All those times you simply imported without flagging, tagging, sorting, and ranking were going to catch up to you eventually. You can pay now, or you can pay later. ;-)

Hey SC, just to be clear there is no limit on the number of images that may be used, correct? I believe that's the case with all challenges now anyway.

Correct. Sheesh, this'll be a validation nightmare :-)

I tried to protect you, but you're hopeless! haha

It's not the *archived* aspect causing a problem, it's just that I suddenly realized that possibly MOST of these entries will use as many originals as a Gyaban or Samantha production :-)

I hadn't noticed that this was 2 weeks. Even longer to procrastinate. Awesome!

My mind is kind of blown. This seems really cool. I have no idea where to start.

Once again, God bless you!! I've got my mother coming in from FL today for a week and I was trying to figure out when I could shoehorn in the work. This is great.

also, the Wikipedia image that Bear posted is one style of collage. The definition of collage ; made from an assemblage of different forms, thus creating a new whole.

If it doesn't look like Bear's example, it does not mean it doesn't meet the challenge.

Oops, nevermind. I read that incorrectly. Thought you meant it would be DNMC ... :)

Don posted a link to a wiki on Collage that Robert linked in with the challenge description. There are examples of collages in the wiki, but Jane's point is that we should be aware that entries are not limited by the examples in that wiki - there are as many forms of collages as there are imaginations to create them.
