Beginning of July my lovely wife and I will spend a few days in the southwest part of England. Any photographic 'must see' spots there? Other tips for places to go, preferably not to crowded with (other) tourists? Thanks!

Clovelly, but there will be tourists. Nevertheless, it's worth it. Exeter is very pretty although definitely larger. Dartmoor National Park and its wild ponies are a must, as is Grimspound, which is very photogenic, especially during the golden hour. Other places you may want to look into if you have time and your own car is Merrivale standing stones, Tiverton and the surrounding area, and if you're up for a long drive, the Eden Project (the only place in Cornwall on this list).

There are some beautiful traditional 'fishing villages' such as Port Isaac and Polperro. If you're planning on doing any walking the South West Coast Path stretches along the coast. There can be some dramatic scenes across Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor - look out for Daphne du Maurier's 'Jamaica Inn off the A30 near Bodmin.

Have a look at the National Trust and English Heritage websites:

I happened to have the day off work; I suspect that nothing would have been achieved in the office anyway given the result this morning.

Hopefully the shockwave will pass by and that everyone will pull together to make it work, irrespective of how they voted. Having said that there will inevitably be fallout in Scotland and quite possibly Northern Ireland. No-one really knows what the full consequences will be - but then again no-one really knows what would have happened if we'd stayed in.......

On. On.

Nice pub there too and you can go via Dartmoor Prison - quite an atmospheric sight of the weather is bleak

Great thread. Keeping it for future reference. Have fun, Kees! :)

Seeing you're from Scotland, would love to hear your impressions post trip. St. Ives looks pretty cool.
