Typhoon Nepartak is approaching Taiwan and getting stronger. Will make landfall this Thursday or Friday. Taipei (where we live) will have a direct hit.

Stay safe. Thoughts and prayers for all who are in its path.

Yoiks. We're lucky this year in the Northeast that we seems slated for a mild hurricane season. You guys take care!

Winds are, or were, 125 mph+ and East Coast of Taiwan has received 12-24 inches of rain. Heck of a lot of devastation taking place :-(

Looks as if the typhoon came ashore at the southern end of Taiwan, so it was nowhere near a direct hit of Taipei (where Georges lives) if I'm reading things correctly.

Yes, you're reading correctly :) A typhoon is unpredictable which path it will follow. It's so huge that it covers more than the whole island. The amount of rain is just amazing. Compare it to someone throwing big buckets of water over you. The wind blowing is not constantly at high speeds, it comes like waves. The good part is that we don't need to work but still get paid :)

typhoon party...

Being such a well build and safe city sometimes (sad to say) you're looking forward the signal # 8. Cross the border and on the sea things are very different :(

This one is sparing HK

It almost makes it worth it. :)

Well... maybe not, but it's a nice side effect. :)
