When I first got my camera and learned which end to look into, I became a member here. I learned tons and got off on the right foot. For whatever reason, though, I drifted away from DPC but continued on my photographic journey. I slumped most of last year due to personal reasons and hardly picked my digital camera up. I landed a large format film camera last Summer and my interest took off like wildfire, again. Now that the storms are here, and the shooting with the 4x5 is such an excursion, I picked up the Nikon again . . . I have renewed my membership to continue learning and being inspired to shoot even on those days I think I'm not in the mood . . . thanks for being here and waiting so patiently for my return!

I'm excited to see what you come up with! This is definitely a place to get inspiration. Well... Kind of... It's a great place to force you to get inspiration. :)

I remember this image that you posted right when I joined DPC

Welcome back! It's nice to call the thread "inspiration" - you might call it discipline of shooting as well.

How GREAT to see you back, ACG. I remember you fondly simply because I have owned a BUNCH of VW Microbuses :-) I'm looking forward to seeing what sort of flavors you being to the party in 2017. Be SURE and read the rules carefully, there've been some substantial adjustments...

So, my first few photos here are solid entries for pages 5 or 6, right square in the thick of Mediocreland or just south of the tracks, there . . . While Facebook fans have been good for my ego, photographers and artists, they are not; I have not learned as much as I thought I had. I have read plenty but I have not practiced it all, so strong in theory but not practical application.

Another thing I noticed is it is much easier to spot something that would be a cool or nice photo and take it at my leisure while following subject or rules prompts with a deadline is "uncomfortable" for me. This "discomfort" needs to be stretched and pushed. Not a little, but a truckload, or more. I will carry on as soon as I finish this large serving of humble pie!

Thanks and see you out there!

Greg
