So it's time to figure out whether to go mirrorless or just upgrade to a better camera. The 7D has a brand new shutter, and I'm thinking I can sell that and go better.

But I'd like to try out some options first. A photographer that I ran into awhile ago said I should rent a mirrorless and try it out. Back when I lived in MN, it was obvious where to go. But real camera stores are few and far between these days, and certainly don't exist in my small town. He said he rented online, but I don't remember from where, and I don't have his contact information.

So I was hoping you guys could help me out. Where should I go to rent a camera these days?

thanks!

I use lensrentals all the time, and for several years now. I rent and test lenses and cameras during vacations and photoshoots. Very dependable, great customer service. Bought my 6D from their lensauthority site where they sell used rentals. If you will do more than a couple rentals, buying their shipping program (lensrentals HD) is worth it.

+1 I've rented from them over 25 times in the past 10 years. Tried others on occasion, but never matched the service and reliability of lensrentals.com.

Ok -- starting the process to rent and try out cameras.

The interesting thing is that you can buy extra coverage to insure against damage caused by:

Drops
Bear attacks

Since Art has rented from them over 25 times, I assume they had to add that because of him.

Art: where are the photos!? And is bear a codeword for "Godzilla"?

Aren't there any dedicated photography stores in your area that rent out equipment?

Nope. We don't even have photography stores anymore.

What?! Then you need to move up here to Canuckistan. Vistek, Henry's...we're lucky to have those stores.
ETA saw your response on last thread. Yeah, my small town had a photography store but it was an independent and shut down some years ago. Fortunately the big town of Ottawa is just 45 minutes away and yes I did rent the Bigma from Vistek, way back when.
