And WHAT A LENS.

It's the very relatively brand new Pentax D-FA* 70-200mm f/2.8

It's the first 70-200mm f/2.8 from Pentax in a very long time (if ever, I don't know of one if there was one.) and it's a professional quality lens on par with Canon or Nikon's offerings.

Weather sealing on the lens itself (to go with my K3 body weather sealing).
Whisper-quiet auto-focus
professional coatings
Fantastically strong build quality

and most important, a fancy gold ring.

I'm in absolute love with this lens and it'll help me up my game immensely. (Not here on DPC though, in my actually IMPORTANT photography.)

Look at it beside my Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 and 50mm f/1.8. IT'S A BEAST.

Now if I can just convince SC to add it to the lens database. HINT HINT (I've sent two requests. lol)

It'll come. I had my first photo shoot with it yesterday, so I'll get to working on those in the next few days.

Usually, another SC does this but I think perhaps that SC is AWOL on vacation right now. I'll see if I can oblige :-)

ETA: It is done :-)

Here's a quick shot. First photo is a slightly processed (just bumped some levels/saturation/etc) image and the second photo is a 100% crop of it. There was an exposure bump done in Camera RAW as well.

ISO 100 shot at 198mm, f/6.3, 1/200.

My favorite part of this is that I didn't have to be right up in the child's personal space to capture this shot. She didn't even know I was taking it. I've been wanting to get shots like this from longer distance without sacrificing quality for a long, long time. I'm finally able to.

Oh, wow! That is awesome. Being able to shoot kids discreetly is a huge advantage.
