I've had my M8 for years but towards the end of last year it developed a problem with the sensor coating and started to deteriorate badly (approx 1cm square) the camera was no good, Leica wanted the best part of £1000 to replace the sensor so I decided to ask a company here in the UK Advanced Camera Services if they would be interested in doing a conversion and considering it was already a brick, you will not be held liable if anything goes wrong. They agreed for a fee and I have just got it back. There was some issues trying to remove the sensor glass because the one on the M8 is so thin and also, it is the ONLY one so taking it off actually bares the pixel bits (pixellious biticus). As a result there are a few scratches because the glass splintered and took them 3 months of PITA chipping away at it trying not to hit the sensor..... imagine that.

I am delighted that they have completed the task and my M8 is no longer a door stop but instead an interesting camera with built in old photo effect ;)

A picture speaks a thousand words so here's a couple of thousand words. One has been converted to B&W in lightroom simply by removing the colour, the other shot is out of camera with a small tweak to contrast.

Rockin!
I love the results... great to see that a brick can still take great photos, LOL!
