Hi everyone, I wanted to start an LA Area DPC thread so we can chat about whatever, whenever... not having to do with meet-ups. We can "Watch" this thread and check it often. So, post anytime!

I guess you can chat. Since we have met you twice now… I guess we will consider you a LA transplant. LOL

How about me? I was born in Santa Monica, and lived in Southern Cal for most of my life. You gonna hold it against me that I retired to the Right Coast?

Hey Arie,
Glad to hear that you are getting your camera back Friday. Let me know if you want to go shooting over the weekend.
P.S. Sorry, forgot that this is not a Meet up Thread.

Here's a topic,
Where are all the photographers in LA? How come we aren't getting more to go out and shoot? do we need to advertise more??? After all this is the biggest metropolitan area (not city) in the U.S.
I went testing out my new lens at Hollywood all by my lonesome self this afternoon. Next time, maybe the zoo again.

Hey Fritz,
I heard you may be coming back to LA around May, is that true?

I would love to watch and learn from the LA area photographers. I am new to digital photography, and haven't invested yet in expensive equipment. Are newbies welcome to join in the discussion?

I think any and everyone is invited. Don't need a fancy camera, or even a camera, although it helps.

Just upload the pic to your portfolio (if you have that option - paid members) and then use the but use [ ] instead of <> I think. If you don't have a portfolio, you may have to upload to a website and send us the link... I am sorry I am not more helpful

Definitely possible. I will let you know by Friday afternoon if we can get together on Saturday for a bit in the mid-morning to mid-afternoon. :)

I don't know the answer to this! I wish there were more LA based DPCers willing to hang out with us. We are fun people! :)

What did I do?! :)

You don't have to keep up, you can go off on your own and meet back up with us periodically. It's a lot of fun!

Thanks Mirdonamy,,I finally figured it out last night and I do appreciate your help with that,,smile

Oh great! Glad I could help :) If you are using your portfolio pix, you can open the photo up in DPC and see the number at the end of the URL string. That's the number that goes between the thumb tags in the forum posts :)

Hey Arie, glad you are getting your camera back! how is your job hunting going?
04/21/2005 03:15:00 PM · #23
I just got a call from a friend in CA, he told me that there was a recent news item about a child that got bit by a rattlesnake in Antelope Valley. I guess she nearly died, but is going to be OK. Anyway, he said the pics on the news looked like the exact spot we saw our rattler, and the snake looked like the same species.
04/21/2005 07:48:16 PM · #24
I hear most people bitten by wild snakes in CA are bitten b/c they actually approach the snake and some actually try to touch/hold them. I don't know about the case with the little girl. But needless to say, leave wild animals alone....
04/21/2005 08:24:56 PM · #25
Wow, Kirbic, I wonder if it was the same rattler... they usually take up large areas of space, they don't hunt in drones! I will look up that story. I hope she'll be ok! I need a better telephoto! :)
