Sorry if this has been talked about here already, but I'm wondering where Setzler's flag and droplets photo has gone from the favourites page?

Looks like he deleted it from his portfolio as well. Wonder why?

it was a challenge submission wasn't it? that means it can only be hidden, not removed. We can prolly assume it's in protest of something. ;)

Wasn't it the first transparency challenge? There seems to be a different blue ribbon winner there now.

Challenge submisions cannot be hidden.
(I just tried to test the theory if it could be done or not)

Try deleting one of your ribbon shots Brad. See if that works :)

Apparently the photographer requested a self-DQ on it, and the photo was removed. :-(

This is a great shame, it was a great photo. I even copied it for the
Deja Vu challenge.

Could i have my brown ribbon photo removed please ;)

I requested a self-dq on the photograph. It's lived its useful life and the photo continues to collect negative and politically motivated comments. I'm an American, and a proud one at that. I'm tired of the anti-American babble that people post as comments on the photograph. It was OK at the time of that challenge and the months following, but after several years of it, it's getting old.

Some folx will call me 'thin-skinned' for removing it, which is OK also. I'm used to that too. The photo means enough to me that I would rather just keep it as part of my private collection at this point. Since the door was opened sometime recently for self-disqualification with certain restrictions, I decided to take advantage of that here.

I don't blame you. If I had a photo collecting that kind of dust I would try to sweep it away as well. There's really no sense in using a photograph to air those kinds of sentiments, but what else can ya do?

Perhaps there's a way to lock a photo from receiving any more comments? I wouldn't suggest using that idea lightly, but in cases such as this when comments turn from constructive criticism/praise of a photo into Something Else, it might be a way to save a favorite from being removed by its photographer.

It's not as if this is the first photo to have its comments hijacked. Why punish the photographer with other people's garbage? That's what the Rant forum is for.

I dont see it in your past challenges as a DQ listing, and you've lost your ribbon for it too it seems.

I guess the terrorists did win after all.

I would love to see an option like that and I have suggested it before as well.

If a post "hijacks" a photo (or forum) thread, just use the Report Post button and it can be hidden.

I demand a re-post!

Screw the hater scum!!

Does that mean the results were recalculated on the challenge as well?

Was it that one? Over 2 years ago...

pathetic.
11/07/2005 07:11:15 PM · #22
...so I guess we should congratulate the 3 folks who moved up a ribbon?

While I can empathize with John about being annoyed at the anti-American comments - and believe me, I can empathize about that on this site! - I think it was mistake to remove it for that reason and it was an even bigger mistake on the admins part to allow this.

My suggestion would be in addition to being able to lockout comments, would be that if ever for any reason someone wants a picture removed so long after the challenge that a blank placeholder image replaces it explaining that the photo has been removed at the request of the photog. It should not change the standings, IMO.

My self-DQ's, which i think number one, remain on my profile and even have favourites, although i don't actually want them/it on my profile. Can that image be completely expunged from the record too, please?
