I was just glancing through Rikki's Rikki's profile and was in awe about how much he has improved in a short period of time.

It gave me an idea. Let's see which people you think have made a really big improvement.

Not so good Rikki

The new and improved awesome Rikki

OK, someone else go.

The original Rikki

The plastic surgery Rikki (guess who)

I was actually thinking the same thing about Rikki. Someone recently mistook one of my challenge entries as one of Rikki's and I took that as a compliment!

Elsapo! Five of his first ten entries scored below 5 (the highest was a 5.66), starting with this one:

Exactly two years later, four of his last ten entries scored above 7, including three ribbons. Now THAT'S some progress!

WoW! Impressive and only 17. Someone has an awesome career in front of him, if he chooses to chase it.

Rikki, for sure. I just told him something to this affect a couple of days ago. Keep up the good work Rikki!

Oh, and elapso too. Lots of great stuff.

There are a lot of up and coming photographers this year. GIS_boy is one of them. Although I agree that both Rikki and Elsapo has improved dramatically.

Always fun to see what they have in store in the challenges ;)

Hey from brown to 11th! That's great naomik :) Ask Scalvert for a prediction. He's been known to be really good at that ;)

Not to discount anyone elses efforts, but my vote is for Rikki. Elsapo as a close 2nd, however, dont forget about Alexsaberi!!!

Fascinating and incredibly exciting watching the evolution of Joey Lawrence
An early challenge entry

It really doesn't matter where you look in his portfolio.....it's hard to pull yourself away, there's so much to see.

I guess I should have waited a while before submitting my first photo, but I was so excited that I wanted to jump in right away....oh well, at least I have been learning and improving.
And congratulations to everyone else including Ricki and Elsapo who in this instance I believe have not come first!!!

I have to add Goodman to the list of photographers showing major improvement. You can see the same scoring pattern I've alluded to in other threads...

She started right before I did in 2004, and averaged 4.55 over her first 25 entries with nary a 6 in sight. Then she started to figure it out in 2005 and got some high, but inconsistent scores. That's the experimentation part- mostly a 5 to 6 range, with occassional flashes of brilliance. Lesley finally hit the next level this past December, and has averaged 6.29 over her last 25 entries. Now she's just one more regular among the top 30. Well done! :-)

Improvement or familiar style? On certain pictures you are pretty sure it is taken by a particular photographer or that style is emulated to look like something that person took.

I haven't voted in awhile because I don't think I can be impartial anymore :(

Don't know if she even knows it yet, but NaomiK is probably one of the most improved ever. From toilet paper to blue ribbon.

Its amazing to me to see how very far some people have come in such short amount of times! That just goes to show you that with dedication and the wonderful support of dpc it can be done! :o)

Thanks Louis.....I'm very proud of my toilet roll shot, but not as proud as my footwear shot!
I crawled my way out of the murky mire. And I will gladly accept the crown of "Most Improved"! I hope I'm an inspiration to all those newbies out there...don't be afraid to try.
Also for those who dont have the very expensive cameras - the footwear shot was taken with a Panasonic FZ20 and the editing was done with Digital Image Suite

Great job naomik! Gives everyone here hope that improvement is just around the corner! From Brown to Blue... what an amazing turnaround! Congrats!
