Killer good-looking lens! What is it? I can see it's a Pentax, but what focal length?

Hey Matt, I'm with ya! Is it me, but it looks like none of the fancy mode choices. Won't bother me since I'm in manual mode most of the time now.

Out of all my lenses it is hard for me to pick best one, but for LOOKS only then I say my Nikkor 50mm f1.8 with the old 1960 Nikon F lens hood on it... too cool.

Asahi Pentax Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 50/1.4 (with scalloped/knurled grip). Definately.

Mine's in the mail. Coming some time next week.

Agreed with shutterpug...that lens gets the most reaction from people sitting next to me at football games, but I have to say the Sigma 70-200 2.8 is one of my favourite 'looking' lenses...

But my all time favourite was the old Olympus Zuiko 55mm 1.2. The front element was amazing to look at...and I did just that, I simply looked at it for hours as a kid.

Not sure about the looks of the lens, but this is the first I've seen of the new Pentax body. Something for the 3 or 4 of us Pentax users on DPC to get excited about.

And for the record, there's something cool about the look (and about using) any nice, compact little prime lens I reckon. 50mm or thereabouts. :)

I can see where you've linked that pic from but I reckon it looks suspiciously like the Pentax-FA* 400mm f5.6.

Anyway, how about the wildest lens?

A limited edition gold plated Pentax 50mm f1.2 with lizard skin inlay. And for those who are interested there's one going complete with gold plated body on Ebay at the moment.

cheers,
bazz.

Agreed. Got one of those sitting on my desk right now, attached to my beat up but still trusty OM-1.

From the 1960's

Nippon kogaku 10.5 CM f4 long nose lens (for sale actually. it's collectors iris needs repair but still works fine.)

Nippon Kogaku 2.8 CM f3.5 (also for sale to collector perfect condition)SOLD

Nippon Kogaku 5 CM f2 (as seen on the wifes D50 that is where it stays cos she wants it, Collectors perfect condition).SOLD

Classic Nikon lenses from a bygone era that STILL fit and work on modern digital body... AMAZING!

For me it varies. I have 15 lenses, so I have lots of choice to select from, therefore it all depends on the shooting requirements.

If I had to pick just one, it would be my Nikkor 1,000mm f11 simply because it is so unique. I use the Nikkor 28-70mm f2.8 the most and I truly enjoy the 105 f2.0DC for the superb control and stunning results provided that the adjustment over the depth of field - two aperture rings!

Nikon AF-S Zoom-Nikkor 28-70mm f/2.8D IF-ED
Nikon AF DC Nikkor 105mm f/2.0D
Nikon AF Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8D
Nikon AF Micro-Nikkor 200mm f/4.0D IF-ED
Nikon AF Micro-Nikkor 60mm f2.8D
Nikon AF Nikkor 28mm f/1.4D
Nikon AF Nikkor 85mm f/1.4D IF
Nikon AF Zoom-Nikkor 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED
Nikon AF Zoom-Nikkor 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6D ED VR
Nikon AF-S Zoom-Nikkor 17-35mm f/2.8D IF-ED
Nikon MF 50mm f/1.4
Nikon MF Micro-Nikkor 85mm f/2.8D PC
Nikon MF Reflex-Nikkor 1000mm f/11.0
Nikon MF Reflex-Nikkor 500mm f/8.0

sir_bazz wins. The rest of you can go home now...
But the Pentax 200/2.8 looks good too. Pentax makes some good-looking (and very good) lenses.
My old OM system had some beautyful lenses:
40/2.0:

250/2.0:

And of current lenses:
35-100/2.0:

And of course, there are many beautyfully made large format lenses out there...

I like old lenses. All metal and with real aperture controls. And of course the marks for hyper-focal distance.

There, I fixed the link by replacing it with the list. Sorry about the mistake.
