couldnt come up with any ideas for tools while the challenge was on, then while waiting for PC to do stuff, I'm pissing about with my penknife and an empty mug and come up with this.. I'm sure with a bit more photoshop jiggery pokery it could look a little better..

what do people think, how do you think it compares to the other entries?? (this is only the second challenge I've thought about)

I'd appreciate any constructive criticism.. obviously I think using a clean mug would help for a start :)

for the technical details, aperture shutter speed and so on, click here and go to photo properties in the top right.
looking at the other entries I'd have expected to finish in the bottom 50-75%, is that too optimistic?

I like the composition, and the basic colors. With the right lighting and cleanup, I think it would've been a strong shot.

I wasn't able to get a submission, either. I couldn't find a pair of old, worn hands to turn my idea into something.

Pretty good... I would crop out the top 1/2 inch to remove that edge that's reflecting the light. And then maybe NeatImage on the red part to smooth it out a little. I like the "mug background", it's kinda interesting. I'd probably give this one a 6. I think it would be in the top 50%.

thanks for the comments, I may fiddle about with it a little more, theres something about the corner shape the corkscrew makes, and the shadow on the mug...
