took this standing next to a pond at a state park in Vermont
It's actually posted to the //www.vtstateparks.com/ web site, along with a couple others of mine

just curious what folks think of it.

Interesting concept. I'd perhaps crop some of the bottom and top off to focus the attention more on the leafs and the lines connecting them. Especially the top isn't very interesting. Yeah, a tighter crop would make it better I think (not that it's bad!).

It looks a bit oversharpened on screen at this size, but I am sure it'll be fine as a print.

Soup, I think this is an excellent image. You don't have any information posted with it, but the title you have given it of 'life and death' in the file name seems to allude to the contrast between the green leaf and the fading leaf. The theme of life and death is usually an intriguing theme for me. This particular 'contrast' is often portrayed in photography and other art and 'craft' forms as well. The color work here definitely brings the leaves to the foreground of the image and centers my attention around them.

What I like about this photo in particular is the 'noise'. It's not a film grain or distortion noise, but the 'chaos' within the image created by the contrasts from dark to light that fill the 'background' here. That creates a lot of tension and I think it adds to the overall theme because of that. It reminds me, somewhat, of looking at a tv sreen with nothing but snow on it. That is 'chaos'. The two leaves seem to balance that chaos by drawing my attention and making me observe your idea.

Very interesting photo....

well, i appreciate the comments
it does print well, i'll take a crop of it, see what come out.

funny thing is i was squatting there waiting for some loons
( hard bird to photo ) to pop up

saw the dead and the newly fallen leaves, seemed to draw me away from the loons.

i evetually got the loons from a canoe
its at the link above - i made the sunset for that one.
took it at 12 noon

i'll keep at it ;}

to add to the above comments

this photo isn't eliglible to enter in the current contest
because of the editing techniques.

but i would liked to have been able to enter it.

and life/death/chaos are all part of the same equation.
