My regular work seems to be getting the best of me today, so I'm taking a few minutes to think about a 2nd career, even part time, in photography. My big question today is if there is a market for the way I like to shoot. I guess I would call this experessive portraiture, but it's probably odd mix of images with portrait, fashion, and fine art influences (not saying it's fine art, just some influences from the images I like to view myself). If I post a small collections of my favorite work, can anybody with even a basic understand of the photography market please offer an opinion about the potential market for this type of work, if any?

Thanks in advance for any help, it is truly appreciated!

sure seniors love this kind of stuff. (well- the less sexy poses at least!) :0P

You should get a myspace account and do a senior or two for free so they will rave about you to all their friends. It worked for another photog. I know and they have too much work if there is such a thing? :0)

Essentially your starting a business and should treat it as such.
You should contact other photographers in your area, find out about advertising, licences, insurance. There maybe someone in your area that would like to work with you or that could send business your way.

Ask others here that have made the leap.

just a few knee jerk thoughts for you. All the best your portraits are very nice.

As mentioned, seniors and portraits, but you might even try weddings. You could have a very nice differencial from the traditional wedding photographer, by making your images so artsy ;)
