Does anyone know what weight/mil paper is used in photo processing?

I would like to print some pictures for friends, but the glossy premium papers still feel thin. I'd like a thick paper that doesn't give away that the pictures were printed at home.

I understand that the color quality is foremost, but if it doesn't 'feel' like a photo, doesn't it detract from the feeling they have received a quality print?

-Lexmark Premium 9.5 mil feels a little thin, but thicker than HP semi-gloss 48lb.
-HP Premium 10 mil feels a little more substantial - has a grainy feel on the back.
-Hammermill Ultra Gloss 38lb - too thin

Epson Premium Luster :-D I love that stuff. Does anyone know of something like this for his HP?

The Kodak ultra stuff is really heavy, not sure on compatability though.

HP has a Matte that's 11.5mil...if I recall???

I like it lots. Very similar to Epsons Premium Luster.

Ilford Galerie Papers are just about right and have an exceptional finish, especially the 'pearl' and the 'smooth' gloss. About 25 cents per 8.5 X 11 sheet when purchased online or at Sam's Club.

How similar is it? Every matte paper I've ever tried seems to have a finsih that seems like normal cardstock almost. The luster stuff has a nice textured finish that seems like its coated with plastic or something. Its also 100% waterproof! (Did I say i love this stuff? I print my cards on it lol). If you tried running any other other matte paper I've used under the tap you'd end up with a big soggy mess. I wish this paper came in 4x6 and 5x7 sizes. I also like how it says "professional" on the back :-D
