Does anyone know of any adaptors which allow
a Canon EFS lens to be Fitted to an EF body?

If possible I wish try and fit the Canon 10-22mm lens to a Canon 5D

I do not believe such an adapter exists I'm afraid...

Does it not physically fit? I'd have thought it would fit but cause vignetting, but I could be wrong, as I don't have a 5D or 1DSMkII. Yet.

No, the EF-S lens won't fit an EF body. The back element of the lens actually sticks into the body and would be hit by the mirror on a FF camera. So it's not just the mount that changes, but the interior design of the body as well.

There's no adapter, sorry.

A tab on the lens mount prevents EF-S lenses from mounting to EF mount camera bodies. The concern, aside from vignetting, is that since the rear element on EF-S lenses tend to sit farther back in the mirror box, the larger mirror on full frame cameras could strike the rear element of the lens, possibly damaging not only the lens, but also the camera.

When the EF-S mount made its debut, several people tinkered about nd modified the kit lens to fit on the 10D. (The 10D does not accept EF-S lenses even though it has an APS-C sensor). The modification involved removing the mount from the lens and grinding off the tab to convert the EF-S lens to EF. There were numerous websites detailing the procedure. I see no reason that you couldn't do this with a 10-22 lens as well, but you would most certainly void the warranty on the lens and you might damage the 5D and I doubt that damage would be covered under warranty either.

If you want a really wide angle lens for a 5D, try the Sigma 12-24, it's designed for full frame coverage.

you could try fixing a tube so that you can add the EF-S to the EF mount
worth looking into at least, and tubes are cheap so it doesn't matter if you wreck one

Ahh so. *nod*

If you're looking for the effect of an APS-C body with the 10-22, but fullframe, you should consider the 16-35/2.8, since it works out as the same view/coverage.

The extension tube would move the lens away from the sensor, preventing focus at infinity. With a lens that wide, it would probably move the farthest point of focus to inside the physical lens itself, basically preventing focus on anything.

I tried my shortest extension tube with my 12-24 and the best I could get was to get the dust that was sitting on the front element sharp. The 10-22 would be worse.

Thanks for he feedback.

It looks like I need a new lens,
and will have to offload the 10mm-22mm
