Original:

(A new personal best! 5.62!)

Alternate:

I edited this up after voting began, and I'm sad I didn't get to submit it. I had already finished my first version before the "Film Grain is ok" decision came through.

Several commenters didn't like the original's digital noise aspect (pink and green tints), but I didn't like the way that the film grain messed with the colors, either. Still, the film grain is probably a better version.

My entry: The score dropped at the end from a 6.05 to a 5.95.

I had no qualms that this wasn't a future 4+ score, but I really do like it. I totally went crazy with the grain and it adds an almost otherworldly feel to the shot. Maybe I should have just gone for it...

My outtake

I thought my entry had more of a story behind it - and the grain in this was a little wacky.

Probably should have gone the shell game route.

I tried a handful of different images before stumbling across my entry on my card. The zoo is so good to me here.

this does have noise added but I was worried it wasn't enough(and more noise ruined the shot for me) so I just put it in my portfolio instead. that was a mistake probably.

Didn't think the grain added anything on the outtake; maybe I should reshoot it on a windier day for spinning!

Entry:

Still like this one ... actually, it's become my favorite shot in my portfolio. Next time it snows (which will probably be next winter) everyone else in the area will be heading to the grocery store for milk and toilet paper and I'll be out looking for ruins LOL!

Outtake:

I liked this perspective, too, but had to do too much to it for a Basic challenge. Didn't add any noise to this one since I processed it after the challenge.

ETA: I did shoot at ISO 800 ... apparently that wasn't noisy enough but I couldn't really tell till I got home.
