=)))
It was my first shot, so I didn't do extraordinarily well.. But I learned things. The foreground was too dark and a bit fuzzy, the pink smudge was bad, and according to someone, the image wasn't relevent.
But omg. Two people rated it ten. That totally makes my life. XD
I'm in a really good mood. =))
I did WAY better than I thought I would.
However, I have ALOT to learn.. >>

The thing is, my best images are images I take on accident. Then of course they don't meet the current challenge so I have to take a different one. But when I become a member I'll just put them in my portfolio. =))
Thanks for all of your encouragement, guys. I'm going to listen to what people tell me and hopefully I'll improve as time goes on.
=)
I'm learning quickly, thanks to everyone's tips and suggestions.
My greatest dream right now is to get into top fifty one day.
I probably have a long way to go before that happens, but I'll keep trying.

Hey, you are beautiful. You did better than my first entry which ended up with a 3.1 and a 1%. I do know about that delightful problem of taking a great shot and not being able to use it for a challenge. However, if you become a member we have something called free studies, for that very great shot you took this month but it wasn't when a weekly challenge was running. Keep it up, have fun, and maybe you will be the next Joey Lawrence. He is another youngish photographer who has done very well for himself. Check him out.
04/12/2007 11:16:45 AM · #20
I've always wanted to enter one of those free studies. Or any minimal editing challenge. I'm definitely going to become a member. Now it's just time to wait for my paycheck.
XD
I've noticed that there are alot of younger photographers here. It makes me feel like I'm not so alone. When I signed up I was thinking "Oh god. I'm going to be the youngest kid on the site." but I've seen several fantastic younger photographers. It gives me hope that maybe I'll amount to something someday. However, I doubt I'll get half as good as Joey Lawrence.. XD

JOe -- I'd like to add that you've gave me a very thoughtful comment on my night photo. You'll learn a lot by comment and reading others comments. Don't give up on being like Joey. He had to start somewhere! Many of us would love to have half his talents

I've deleted so many comments I've made.
>.>
Usually I confuse one term with another and the owner PMs me very angrily.. Then I feel bad..
XD
Sometimes I just dont know what I'm talking about..

My night photo is getting /creamed/ to death. >.<
The avg vote isnt much lower than the one for contre-jour, but I really should've made sure I didn't submit a blurry picture.. It looks aweful.. XD

Good luck to everyone who is participating in a challenge right now. =)
I cant wait to see which pictures win.
I think I was a little grouchy with voting and comments..
I kinda feel bad..

I know a few others have mentioned it, but you're starting on the site with a GREAT attitude. :) You're entering into an AWESOME community of extremely helpful people. Like many others, I started out shooting in the 4s and then proceeded to learn tons of great stuff from others here on DPC. In my opinion, there's no better place to learn. :D Welcome!!!
04/12/2007 09:02:56 PM · #24
so then, you're about as old as Joey was when he had entered into this, so in about two and a half years, you'll probably be as good as he is. me, well, ^_^' i've started photography only recently, and i have yet to get in touch with local photo guru's, even though i do of know some. looking back into Joey's first challenge entries, i'm comforted to see that he started off in about the same place where we are (even though he did luck out with an early six). this means that we still have hope. ;P

Don't sweat the small stuff, you'll do fine just stick with it, some people on here take this site a bit too seriously in my opinian, a comment is just that nothing more. You have a great attitude and I for one am glad to see your interest and energy. Like Muppet said in a couple years you could be the next Joey L. Thats why many of us are here to learn what we are doing wrong and try to improve, just try to learn from your mistakes, look at my entries...I have some REAL horrible shots, LOL. No big thing, just chalk it up to experience...Welcome, and have fun!!
