Previously I've done everything in SRGB and adjusted my monitor settings (gamma and contrast etc) to "calibrate" my monitor with Adobe Gamma. With everything set to SRGB my images looked the same in all applications.

Now I have a Spyder 2 Express. I believe the calibration worked fine, but now I have a different color profile. I still take my images in SRGB, but when I open them in photoshop I get a warning and I have to select if I want to retain or discard the image color profile. If I keep the SRGB and edit the image, everything looks great until I "save for web". The preview image looks completely different!!!

Am I supposed to convert the SRGB to my new monitor profile? Should I embed this profile in my images? What happens at the print shop? I am completely clueless, please help!

Check your color settings in PS. It sounds like your working color space is different.

My working space is the spyder color profile and my pics come off camera in SRGB.

Simply put; set your Photoshop working space to RGB/Adobe RGB/ProPhoto RGB/etc. depending on your workflow and just forget about the profile Spyder creates. It has nothing to do with the color space you choose to work in.

OK, thanks for the info! I think I have found the big problem though - in the preview of "save for web" you can set the color management. It seems mine was somehow set to "uncompensated colour", which of course is not SRGB or the working space color!

Thanks again.

DON'T USE THE MONITOR PROFILE AS YOUR WORKING PROFILE.
You do everything in sRGB...I would set my color setting (Working Space) in sRGB. (or the sRGB2.2******** one)
