I was thinking that one of the topics could be about life. Maybe pictures of a wedding, or just playing in a field.
Stuff like that ;-)

uhumm, thanks for replying LILTOOL, maybe next time you''ll actually have something nicer to say :) obviously you have nothing better to do than insult peoples suggestions. But still, thanks for taking time out of your very busy day to reply to my post!!! Sounds like you had to write something short with nothing else to say... like to feel better than others don''t you? well I''m sorry, I''m 12, and I think that my suggestion is good as any other... and life is not about people idiot... I mean you could show a picture of a tree for all I care, it still doesn''t ALWAYS have to relate to people. Get a life instead of insulting everyones comments...

Oh yes and in no way did I try to copy the stupid challenge ''people'' so please, don''t reply to anything else I have to say if you''re going to bitch about it :)

WoW! Maybe you should ask your mom if you can take some summer classes in anger management. I think it was just a misunderstanding since your idea was so vague. SMILE - you're too young to be so angry. :)

OUCH. That's a lot of overreaction! The topic "people" was stupid? Seems you can be a little negative as well.

Maybe the challenge suggestion should have been "emotions". Yeeks.

Mandarin, these forums are a place for people to communicate with one another, but the big difference between this and other forms of communication is that you miss facial expressions, intonation, gestures and other more subtle signals from people. With that in mind, be careful about your responses to messages, because you may be misinterpreting their intentions. Liltool's response was five words long...so there could be many ways to interpret it. I have only been on this site for a few months now, but I have noticed that the majority of people here are well-intentioned. You have been with this site for less than a month. Think about the first impression you might be making on others.

It's hard to convey your message sometimes on a message board. I don't believe he/she was insulting your suggestion. And, by the way....I think that the idea could work, I have a few ideas for that already running through my head.
On the other hand...sometimes you can convey your message quite well on a message board...as in the case of your reply. I have an eleven year old daughter myself and I am realizing more each day the attitude that comes with this age.
One suggestion I want to pass along in life...no matter what your age...always be careful of things you put in writing. People form opinions of you simply from one bad message. Example: the opinion you formed from reading LILTOOL's comment.
One other suggestion would be...if you're ever going to submit a photo to this contest...learn how to roll with the bad comments. If you don't, I feel like we'll see your name in these post more and more.

Good luck and remember that not everyone is against you. It just seems like it sometimes.

MandarinElements: Although you are just 12, you do need to WATCH YOUR MOUTH. Nobody likes a potty mouth. I looked at the replies carefully and I don't see why you became so offense. If you can't take criticism, don't be a photographer because you'll give yourself an ulcer before your 21.

MandarinElements, I looked at the site you linked to in your profile that talks about your interest in acting and that you just got into a "modewing adencwy". You''re obviously very ambitious and have strong opinions, and I wish you luck on that career, but one thing you''ll be learning in the near future is to be a little less sensitive and antagonistic. It will go with the territory of acting/modeling, just as it goes with the territory of photography. I''ve had a lot of friends among actors, been in a couple of plays at Uni (college, whatever people call it in other countries), and egos clash, tempers flare, facades are built and torn down, tantrums are wild, making up is tearful... you''ll see it all. And you''ll learn some tolerance, or you won''t make it.

MandarinElements, I'm glad you mentioned your age because it helps us understand why you would react so harshly to liltool's post. I know it is easy to read between the lines and think there is a personal attack in a sentence somewhere. With the exception of a few bad eggs, most of the members on this site want to interact in a friendly and helpful atmosphere. Some people come across better than others and it is easy to misinterpret what they are trying to say. I have been guilty myself of misunderstanding and overreacting. In most cases, I was totally wrong in my attitude. The key is to learn from these experiences and improve. You seem like a very intellegent young lady and I hope you will understand most of our comments are meant to help you.

and you chose to comment without the contextual background for what reason?

Ok, you know what. In no way do "mature" adults have the right to insult me. :-) Really, I thought it was very... well stupid that someone would make a comment saying that my suggestion sounds like people. I admit I overacted, but still, I do not believe that any of you have the right to insult me repeatedly. There are plenty of angry performers, and I do believe I mentioned I would like to go into law, where I will have to be aggressive :-) It seems to me that you tried to pick on the littlest one, 12 years old, with just a thought of what one of the contests could be about. Now, really, don't tell me I need to control my anger. If anything you all have to control your snide opinions.

Yes, we do. Repeatedly, even. Snot-nosed, cranky little twit. It's good to be a big person.

irae, you certainly are not the one to demonstrate that being a "big person" is a good thing. You must have chosen to be reproductively sterile and you certainly have a way with children.
